Tesco Value bread

It is good value, I have always been grateful for it being available when I have been low on cash. I would recommend freezing it to keep it fresh as it goes stale faster than other brands. I will not buy this bread out of choice unless I am desperate. I am normally happy with Tesco value products, however this one is a disappointment....more

Premium Review Tesco Value bread: tesco bread; will melt in your mouth (627 words)

Tesco Value Bread, summed up simply, it does the job. The real question here is do we eat to live, or live to eat? lol im sure most of us are the second. There is no point me going over the ingredients of the bread lol as most reviews already have written alot about them. They used to have a small medium and large sized of tesco value white sliced bread. But now they have scrapped the small size, no suprises there as they were pretty useless. I personally buy the medium sliced bread, i can honestly tell you there isnt much difference in buying the thick or the medium. The bread in my opinion tastes fine, infact it is quite nice. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Not much value here (192 words)

I am a regular at Tesco and I think they offer very good value on their Tesco labeled products. However, when it comes to their bread, I am not so much convinced. Tesco's bread comes in 3 types, thin, medium and thick. I have taken the thick one only once to try and I will not repeat the experience. It is true that in percentage terms it is much cheaper than other breads since at 23p a loaf, you can hardly find something as cheap as this, however, it does not taste good, it has a kind of mouldyness built in it. No way you can eat it raw, not me, at least. It may be ok if you toast it, but I think that it is better to write an extra review ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value bread: Little taste, awful texture (200 words)
by - written on 29/07/07 (Useful, 99 readings)

In my local tesco express the other day this was literally the only type of bread that they had on the shelves so I had little option to purchase it. In the end I wished I had not bothered as the only people who benefited were the local wildlife as it all ended up being thrown out for the birds across the front garden area. There was just a complete lack of taste to this white bread and the salt content was really high according to the ingredients label. It was very thinly sliced and while I say it had a total lack of taste I probably over stated my case as in fact it had a very dry texture and a bland floury flavour that was not very pleasant. I ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Quite good for toast (77 words)

Although this bread is not particularly flavoursome, and is perhaps not ideal to eat raw - in a sandwich for instance - this bread still manages to serve quite well for eg toast. Despite its bland texture, once lightly warmed in the toaster, this bread is lifted somewhat and can be quite enjoyable. I like to have Marmite on my toast, although if you don't like Marmite, that's fine. You can have something else. Though Marmite is definitely ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value bread: Great! (367 words)

Well, Tesco Value bread. It is in the plainest packaging ever and currently costs 50p per loaf. They do it in white or brown and I think it's great value for money, especially as seen as some of the bigger brands cost more than double the price of this per loaf. It is thinner than other breads but this is one of the things I look for when buying a loaf so it suits me very well. Also when your buying one of the big brands, I find they often burn the crust at the top, which I can't stand but Tesco Value bread is always consistently not burned on top! I find this bread excellent for cold sandwiches and for toast, if we were going to be having ...  Read the complete review
