Advantages: cheap, good quality

Disadvantages: none

What a lot of people do not realise when it comes to value ranges is that there are not always lower quality.

Value ranges are supplied by various different suppliers, the reason that it's cheaper is that its the excess ingredients/matierals that the suppliers have left over. Rather than throwing them away Tesco use them for their value ranges they pay the suppliers a lot less and then you pay a lot less for the product.

I always buy Tesco Value White sliced bread its just as good if not better than the more expensive brands. It's definatley the best for toasting as it toasts evenly and stays quite firm and doesn't go all soggy when you spread butter or marj on.

Why pay more?

Summary: lower price, no loss of taste or quality

Value bread is - as the name suggests - exceptionally good value. So much so that it's widely believed in the UK industrial baking industry that the manufacturers don't even meet their costs on a Tesco value loaf and are forced to supply in order to keep their shelf space for their branded loaves. It's great value but you're wrong - it just IS NOT the same quality.

It's not left over ingredients - big industrial bakers don't have 'leftovers'. They make the value bread from the cheapest ingredients that they can get and they take out everything that adds any extra cost. It's basic, it works but a 24p Tesco basic white is not equivalent in quality to a standard branded white loaf at twice the price.
