Advantages: Good for toast
Disadvantages: Not good for sandwiches
As you may well know from previous reviews that I have been attempting to save some money and cut costs on the shopping bill by buying some supermarket own and value brands.
When ever I buy a loaf of bread I always seem to throw half of it away as I do not eat a lot of bread and I always find it a waste.
Whilst shopping in Tesco I was looking at the breads and saw the Tesco Value bread for I think it was 38p. It was around 40p anyway. Which I thought was cheap for for a loaf of bread considering other brands are atleast double the price.
The packaging is the standard value for Tesco. White with the red stripe. The packaging is see through and you can see the bread through.
The bread its self is small in size and weak. Its floppy and quite an odd colour. Its not very white, slightly grey in colour.
The bread can be frozen and has 105 calories per slice which seems pretty standard for thick cut white bread.
I am not much of a sandwich eater, I much prefer to have toast so this bread suits me. I did try to make a sandwich with it and the bread kept getting stuck to the roof of my mouth which was horrible.
When toasted the bread is fine. Its still thin and when buttering it can tear. But for around 40p a loaf what do you expect?
I would never use it again for a sandwich but for toast its cheap and cheerful
Summary: Good for toast but no good for sandwiches

- 16/06/09 As you say it's ok for toast but not much else apart from feeding the ducks! Susan |

- 16/06/09 Nicely reviewed. I would rather pay more and eat less than have this stuff. Coincidentally, this is the third review I have read on this today and everyone seems to in universal agreement about the quality of this product - universally bad! 8^) |

- 16/06/09 You're right, it's 38p. I think this is too thin for sandwiches but alright for toasting like you said. |
