Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: thin and not very good for bacon butties!

Well, Tesco Value bread. It is in the plainest packaging ever and currently costs 50p per loaf. They do it in white or brown and I think it's great value for money, especially as seen as some of the bigger brands cost more than double the price of this per loaf.

It is thinner than other breads but this is one of the things I look for when buying a loaf so it suits me very well. Also when your buying one of the big brands, I find they often burn the crust at the top, which I can't stand but Tesco Value bread is always consistently not burned on top!

I find this bread excellent for cold sandwiches and for toast, if we were going to be having something warm in it then I would probably use a different bread because it drops in bits when you have something like a bacon sandwich or something! My 2 year old finds this the easiest bread to eat because it is alot thinner and not as chewy or doughy as other breads. It is the only bread I can get her to eat!

I am sometimes very weary of buying supermarkets 'value' products as I have found in the past that things are no where near as good as the brands you get used to. With the current economic climate, we decided to take the plunge and downshift a couple of products each week to the brand below the one we usually buy. I am really glad we did because I think in somecases we were just paying for some fancy packaging and the brandname and it was fun trying new things along the way. The main thing now is that we have opened our eyes to throwing money away in the past where it wasn't necessary.

I think this bread is well worth trying at least once if your unsure but as soon as we tried it, we haven't looked back since and are making a fab saving on the way too. So, why don't you try the downshift challenge and try tesco value bread? You might be pleasantly surprised!

Summary: A good buy and a really good way to save money. Definiatley a winner.
