These can also be served with dinner as part of any accompaniment or in any dish you like really. I often blend them in to things as I don't notice the texture so much then and I know I've added a couple of servings to a meal for two then I get one of my five a day! There are some strange sized carrots but for the price I paid I don't care as I'm not using the...more

Premium Review Tesco Value Carrots: A Tasty Bag Of Sliced Carrots! (374 words)

I don't always eat as much fruit and veg as I would like to so each week I usually challenge myself to buy at least one lot of fresh fruit & veg and one lot of frozen fruit & veg and find different, appetising, ways to use them up throughout the week. I purchased a 1kg bag of Tesco 'Market Value' Sliced Carrots for around 80p which I thought was a bargain. To use the carrots I simply take what I require from the bag then put it back in the fridge or freezer (depending on how much I'm going to use up). I gave these carrots a quick wash and then they were ready to be blitzed as part of a bolognese sauce, used in a curry and cooked in a stew in my slow ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Is this promoting laziness or saving time? (424 words)

I am in two minds about this product. Tesco do a good range of products at a lower price, called their 'Value' selection. When it comes to baked beans or a snack or soups, etc, I don't usually have an issue as long as I appreciate that you get what you pay for. However, when it turns round to fresher produce such as fruit or veg, I wrestle wth myself. On a negative note, this promotes laziness and you have to question the freshness of the product. The above picture shows you that you can buy pre-sliced carrots in the Value range, but you can also get Value carrots as you would buy them loose on the shelf, pre-packaged and ready for your selection. Now, you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Carrots: Healthy and cheap what more could you want (290 words)

Okay so anyone who reads my (mostly food!) reviews will know that I am not one to turn my nose up at the cheaper brands in an effort to save money for more fun things like travelling! This mainly involves attempting to buy pretty much the whole Tesco Value range which has mostly impressed me this far. One of those items is value carrots. These are one of those things that I don't really understand why people don't always buy, unless they want organic vegetables. The reason why they are value is because they are not 'Class 1' i.e. not the best, they don't make the standard usually because they are quite small or oddly shaped. They are sold in 1kg ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review good value - why pay more? (390 words)

If any of you have been kind enough to read any of my food reviews, you'll know that I'm on a mission to try & save money on my ever-increasing food shopping! I have read a lot of reviews on Dooyoo about the Tesco value range so have added a few items into my basket which Dooyooers have tried & tested. On Tesco.com I saw 1kg of carrots for 49p - our local greengrocer was selling them at 89p so I decided to opt for the Tesco ones despite liking to support the little shops. True, these weren't as well-shaped or all the same size - but who cares?! The carrots came in a plastic bag with the usual Tesco logo ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Carrots: Helping me see in the dark! (500 words)

I use quite a lot of carrots as I like them raw, steamed, roasted and also make my own carrot cakes and muffins. When eating fruit and vegetables it's important to choose ones which has different colours as this is where you are getting a good combination of vitamins, and what better than a bright orange addition to your meal. Carrots, along with most other vegetables, are getting more and more expensive in my local greengrocers shop so when I noticed that Tesco are now selling them as part of their 'Market Value' range I decided to buy a bag to try. I was very impressed considering these carrots cost only 49p for a large bag, unfortunately I threw ...  Read the complete review
