Advantages: Big, Tasty and very good value indeed!
Disadvantages: None
These chicken breasts are called value and VALUE they are!
At first I wasn't to sure about buying these as I don't mind buying stripey
goods, but I thought the chicken was taking a bit of a chance. It might be chewy, it could have tiny bits of bone in or just taste awful, but was I in for a big surprise.
I was looking for some chicken ,but could only see these ones in the freezer. The shop assistant saw me standing there just looking for a different choice. She came over and said that they were very nice as she brought them all the time, trying not to offend her I picked up a bag and
wandered of to the checkout,(thinking I bet they are rubbish!).
When I got home I opened the bag to see 4 of the biggest chicken breasts I have ever seen. I defrosted them and put them in foil with some honey, wholegrain mustard and olive oil. After cooking them in the oven for about 20-30 minutes I took them out and had the most moist tender chicken breasts ever! They tasted like they had just been cut from a fresh chicken.
I now buy these on a regular basis as apart from being a very good piece of chicken the price is amazing at just £3.20 for 1kg!
If you are cooking just for two then one breast is ample. I used to buy my chicken from another store, but found that it seemed to have a very artificial taste and was nothing like the real thing, which these ones are.
So I hope you will try these too and enjoy them on the bar-b-que like us!
Summary: A very good buy for quality chicken. VALUE it is!

- 04/07/09 I guess blue stripe ones taste like the real thing as they have been messed with less. I find the best tasting foods are at opposite ends of the price spectrum. Some blue stripe is better than the brand names, and up there with the organics. |
