Tesco Value Chocolate in generalNewest Review: ... bar, but for the same price you could buy eight of these so that argument doesn't really stand up to much. And now its gone down to 23p. Can't be bad. On opening the pack, it looks a lot like chocolate. It's in ten squares (two by five) which are each larger than the Cadbury or Galaxy equivalents. Breaking one off it feels much the same as any other chocolate. And finally the taste test. I was all in favour of giving it an open minded opinion as having a supply of cheap chocolate is always good but on the other hand it was VERY cheap. I have to say that it is impressive, sure, its not as good as Green and Black's, Lindt or even Cadbury's... more More Tesco in Food

Even in my ever scrooge like approach to shopping, I was slightly dubious of a bar of chocolate that cost 27p (100g). It is smaller than the Cadbury dairy milk standard bar, but for the same price you could buy eight of these so that argument doesn't really stand up to much. And now its gone down to 23p. So as a poor student, I was tempted to try the Tesco Value 27p for 100g plain milk chocolate to appease my sweet tooth. The chocolate wrapper is infitting with the 'value' branding and is pretty plain and simple with the white and blue colour scheme and a picture of the chocolate on the front. It also displays the nutritional information which is pretty bad for you but hey - its hard to buy healthy chocolate isn't it? So this packaging is pretty basic but what else do you need to know, its cheap chocolate! The back of the pack tells us it is suitable for vegetarians (goody!) and it contains milk (obviously!) and soya. It also has a pretty long date ... Read the complete review

I was looking for some plain dark chocolate for cooking and came across Tesco Value Plain Chocolate, at 27p for a 100g bar I decided to try it. The wrapper is the same as the rest of the "value" brand - white and red with the Tesco Value stamp on it in one corner. The nutritional content is clearly marked on the front of the bar with the percentages guide line for daily amounts of calories, sugar, fat and saturates. The back of the packet contains a list of all ingredients, allergy advice and full nutritional value for 100g and 25g (quarter of a bar). On opening the packet there was definitely a nice chocolatey smell and the chocolate ... Read the complete review

As some of you may know, I'm on a quest to cut my shopping bill by trying Value or own brand products when shopping. I'm a bit of a chocoholic but I'd only allowed myself a max budget of £1 for sweet snacks to last a week. I stood looking at the chocolate bars trying to pick one when I noticed the Tesco Value bar, placed right at the bottom of the stand. Priced at just 29p for 100g it seemed silly not to try it! PACKAGING Like all Tesco Value product, the chocolate is wrapped in very plain packaging. All white with red writing and the value logo in the top corner. Unlike more expensive bars, the only wrapping was the outer part it didn't have any ... Read the complete review

'Mmmm chocolate', it is this thought that made me reach out for the tesco value bar, at a mind blowing 29 pence for a 100 grams featured with a pretty picture of some chocolate on the front of the packet, I just couldn't resist. On taste though I felt rather differently. I knew that the chocolate wouldn't taste anything like cadbury or galaxy as of course it is a 'value bar', but what it did taste like was chocolate flavoured paper. It was very weak and dainty, almost like a piece of chocolate that has been left under a bed for 3 months. The flavour was missing, I wonder how much percent inside really was cocoa...0.1%? In terms of nutrition it is no ... Read the complete review
