Tesco Value Chocolate in general

Advantages: Very cheap

Disadvantages: Doesn't taste too great

As some of you may know, I'm on a quest to cut my shopping bill by trying Value or own brand products when shopping. I'm a bit of a chocoholic but I'd only allowed myself a max budget of £1 for sweet snacks to last a week. I stood looking at the chocolate bars trying to pick one when I noticed the Tesco Value bar, placed right at the bottom of the stand. Priced at just 29p for 100g it seemed silly not to try it!

PACKAGING

Like all Tesco Value product, the chocolate is wrapped in very plain packaging. All white with red writing and the value logo in the top corner. Unlike more expensive bars, the only wrapping was the outer part it didn't have any foil underneath.

TASTE AND AROMA

I've got to say, I wasn't really struck on the aroma of the chocolate when I first opened it. It smelled a bit like cooking chocolate and it wasn't as creamy as more expensive brands. The taste wasn't much better, it tasted cheap almost as if it had gone off.

It comes in squares and as I only had two pieces to try and didn't really fancy anymore I had to figure what to do with the rest. I didn't want to throw it away so I tried melting it down to make Crispie Cakes. I found that it melted well and mixing it with the crispies did improve the taste.

NUTRITIONAL INFO

Cal per 100g - 520
Carbs - 51.2g
Sat Fat: - 50.7g
Sugar: - 15.5g

SUMMARY

I wouldn't recommend this chocolate if you're looking for something to eat by itself, but it's not too bad when melted and made into cakes.

Summary: Not my first choice or even my second....
