This is a short one, but don't be put off by that! *PACKAGING* The tesco value range has had a bit of an update since the above picture, most of the range has the appropriate ingredients in picture form on the label. This has two slices of white farmhouse bread being drizzled with honey. If it wan't for the tesco value branding it would be (dare I say it) somewhat sexy... The jar lid on mine is gold but that's really splitting hairs isn't it? It is V suitable but nor for peoples under 12 months because honey often contains endospores which make babies ill. It has 49 calories per table spoon with trace fat and salt. So if, like me, you ... Read the complete review

Now I'm not really a huge honey fan - it's probably best if I tell you this to begin with. I don't like it on toast, and I can't stand getting it on my fingers when I'm cooking. It's sticky and tastes nasty to boot. However, when I have a sore throat there's nothing better than a mug of hot honey and lemon to soothe, and I do cook a variety of dishes which contain honey which I enjoy very much. At Christmas when I buy a duck I like to smother it in honey, I do a dish of chicken in honey and tomato which tastes lovely (my grandmothers recipe), and I love a pork chop smothered in honey and mustard and then grilled. This honey comes in a 340g jar, ... Read the complete review

I bought Tesco Value Clear Honey because I wanted to try out a sweet recipe for cous cous which includes almonds and honey. Prior to this I had been paying more than £2 for a jar in our local health food shop. I read somewhere that eating local honey can help to stave off hay fever because it builds up a resistance to allergic reaction to pollen. Anyway, I didn't want to spend that much on my experimental cous cous dish. This honey cost me 61p for a 454g jar. The packaging itself is very plain. It comes in a jar with a screw top and a plain white lid, plus a Tesco Value label. There is a seal which runs from the label up ... Read the complete review

I cook quite a lot and use a lot of honey when I am making marinades, sauces and cakes. I have noticed a recent increase in the price of honey so while I will continue buying my usual thick local honey from the farmers market for having on toast or cereal, I have started to buy supermarkets own honey for cooking. I have been using the Sainsbury's Basic jars but recently I was in Tesco and needed honey that day so I bought a jar of Tesco Value Clear Honey. It is very much identical to Sainsbury's cheap honey and is perfect for the purpose of my recipes. It has a nice rounded honey flavour and spoons very well from the jar, I find heating the spoon a little bit ... Read the complete review

Firstly I guess I should tell you that I am a beekeeper so I may have a slight bias in this review. You might ask why a beekeeper is buying honey? Good question, the answer is to use in wasp traps to rid my apiary of pesky wasps who were bothering my bees. Anyway back to the product. As I was making my wasp traps I was immediately struck by just how runny the honey was, as a beekeepr I have seen honey in all sorts of states but rarely as runny as this was. It makes me question how this honey has been prepared. Inevitably when you work with honey you get the urge to try some so that's exactly what I did. It was bland, had very little depth of ...
