I nearly always shop at Tesco. Not out of loyalty but simple because they are nearest. Because of this I have had lots of their value items as I am always keen to try to save money on groceries. Tesco Value Coco Snaps are an own brand equivalent of Kellogg's Coco Pops. The price is what will attract your attention. 66p for a bag (not box) of 375 grams. The same size box of Coco Pops would cost way over £1.50 & even if it was in a special offer the price would still struggle to get down so low. So this is a good start. Opening th bag is no problem, but you probably will need a cereal container to put them in (which will cost extra to start off ... Read the complete review

Tesco Value products have been getting a lot of reviews on here lately, largely due to people tightening their belts during the credit crunch. One of my favourite foods is cereal I could live off it! Past experience has told me that as a general rule, own brands cereals areas good as the leading brands but value ones, especially cornflakes, are truly awful. I seem to have found an exception to the rule however and even prefer Tesco Value Coco Snaps to the brand leader, Coco Pops. I like cereals sweet and have to admit for some of the more boring ones, I add a sprinkling of sugar. Coco Pops however, I find really sweet even alone. These value ones aren't an ... It seems that, for every product out there on supermarket shelves, the leading supermarkets have created their own cheaper brand for it. As we regularly shop at Tesco, we tend to substitute a lot of items for their Value range, and generally speaking, we're happy with the swap. However, we weren't too happy with their Value Choco Snaps. As a Value version of Kellogs' Coco Pops, they are essentially the same thing: ovals of crisp rice covered in chocolate that makes your milk go chocolatey. And visually, there is nothing wrong with them at all. They look the same, pretty much, and they do make the milk turn chocolatey as the choc 'melts' into the milk. If I had ... My other half is on a money saving drive and in a bid to save a few pennies and stretch the finances further we have devised a list of every day products that can be bought a brand, and in some cases two brands, lower than what we currently buy. There are some items where I buy the top brand and I refuse to go down, regardless, and the reason for my stubbornness is for a variety of different reasons. Breakfast cereals is not one of these items and rather than purchase Kellogs Coco Pops the decision had been made to try Tesco Basic Coco Snaps instead, which according to the back of the bag is "Chocolate flavoured crisp rice ... I very rarely eat any kind of cereal but as I have two young boys who go through phases of wanting different cereals every day I usually need to look for the cheaper options. Tesco Choco Snaps are currently only £1.57 for a 600g box I think this is the usual price as its Tescos own brand and much cheaper then coco pops which are £2.38 for a 350g box. Considering these both taste the same (to me anyway) I think buying the Tesco's own brand is much more wise. (better then wasting money anyway I say). Well for those of you who dont know about Choco snaps they are Toasted crisp rice coated with milk chocolate and just like coco pops they turn milk ... Read the complete review
