Tesco Value Corned Beef

Background: I am a big fan of picnics and having sandwiches for lunch, so as a result I generally need several different fillings for my sandwiches. So along with various meats I always find room in my trolley for a packet of Corned Beef. My mum normally buys corned beef from the deli in Tesco but she is on some challenge on a website to slash her shopping bills. One night me and her sat down with the laptop and her latest shopping bills to see where she could make changes without the food we eat suffering. One of the things she saw straight away was that cooked meat from the deli is loads dearer than in the packets and corned beef in particular is mega expensive off the deli. I've been economising recently. This means that where I can I've been trying to go for the next price bracket down. It also means that I've been looking at cheaper options for things like sandwich fillings because cold meats seem to be so very expensive these days. Before the health conscious amongst us shake their heads in horror at the very idea of eating a cheapo no-frills packet of Corned Beef, or any meat in fact, then let me tell you that this particular cooked meat is notoriously high in fat, naturally crumbly and as salty as anything - there is nothing worse that can happen to this surprisingly tasty meat so you might as well buy the cheapest option. Whether you are a student, pensioner or penny pincher, we all like to save money when it comes to buying things; but would we dare to go as far as buying that Tesco value stuff with the cheapo label? Well if you can see past the naff label on the corned beef then you are on your way to actually saving some money, because unlike some of the products in the value range, you will be pleasantly surprised with the product inside.
