... flimsy and tasteless. Very bland indeed, really. I suppose that without the butter melting down into it, the taste of the actual crumpet comes through, and it's definitely lower in quality than others I have tried. Nutritionally, each crumpet has just under 100 calories, which is a little more than the next step up, Tesco standard crumpets. You get six in a pack, and it costs you 47p, whereas 6 of the Tesco standard crumpets are over 60p. However, for the slight price difference, I would go for the latter, as I wasn't rea...more

Premium Review Tesco Value Crumpets: fancy a bit of crumpet? (248 words)

For me crumpets are the ultimate comfort food-i love them smothered in melted butter, straight from the toaster. I like my treats but as i have 3 young children i am conscious of my shopping bill. I also have a ravenous husband that has no concern of his health and will polish off 4 crumpets at a time without so much as a blink of his eye. These crumpets cost me 50p for 12, so thats 4 pence per crumpet-bargain! they are great value and taste as nice as more expensive brands in my opinion. They are only 0.3g of fat (until you smother them in butter that is!), however the word of caution i have on overeating them-and its something i constantly ...  Read the complete review

I was a bit unsure about getting these crumpets. Normally, I would err towards the side of Tesco Value products, but ultimately there are some products that I would normally err on the side of caution and go for a different brand. The other week we got this brand of crumpets. They didn't look too impressive in their packaging, which is the standard Tesco Value white and blue. The packaging opens easily enough, adn they smell just like any other crumpets would do. They are a bit flat and squished, as if they had been stacked and never regained their shape. Eating them provides options. Normally, it's best to lightly toast them and then spread butter ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Crumpets: Great 'value' product! (510 words)

When I was at my local Tesco's shop I scanned the shelf for crumpets and found there was quite a lot of choice. After pondering over which ones to buy I decided to go for the cheapest ones and that was the Tesco value range. I can't quite remember the exact cost because as much as I am stingy, I don't always take the price in because sometimes my children are getting restless and need attention. I do know that they would have been cheaper than any of the other crumpets on the shelf because they were of course the 'Value' crumpets. You can buy these crumpets in packs of 6 or 12 and considering I was only buying for my son I picked up a six pack. I didn't ...  Read the complete review

Crumpets are one of my weaknesses I love crumpets as a snack and can eat loads of them so I worry about the cost. I have been buying top brand crumpets when they are on offer for sometime but the spending is adding up. I eat two crumpets for breakfast most mornings and as a snack some evening the crumpets I usually buy cost over 50p and there are only six in a packet while the Tesco crumpets are 50p for a pack of eight, which is great value. I have bought cheap crumpets in the past and I was not pleased. They were pale and chewy but the Tesco crumpets are surprisingly nice. On opening the packet I was met buy 8 crumpets these crumpets were very fresh and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Crumpets: Fancy a bit of crumpet? Great at breakfast time! (308 words)

As I have mentioned in a few of my reviews I am trying my best to cost save at the moment having lost my job. A packet of 8 of these Tesco Value Crumpets are available for 50p from Tesco stores or tesco.com and are about half the price of the leading brand and you get an extra 2 crumpets for half the amount of money! Each calories has 90 calories & 0.3g of fat per crumpet. To serve the crumpets you just toast them either under the grill for a couple of minutes on each side or pop them in the toaster for around 3 minutes until lightly browned. The outside of the crumpets should be nicely toasted and the inside should be lovely, soft ...  Read the complete review
