Crumpets Fancy a bit of crumpet darling. You can have a bite of mine. I bought some crumpets from tesco’s the other day as I really fancied one. Now it is getting to the cold part of the year crumpets are a good comfort food. I had 1 when I got home from work and froze the others in the freezer. Crumpets freeze well. Crumpets need to be toasted some crumpets are slim enough to fit in the toaster others you have to put under the grill. I remember as a child toasting crumpets on the end of a toasting fork over the open fire. Crumpets are good as a warm snack on arrival home from work. Or as a teatime treat occasionally if I have had a Sunday roast we have crumpets for tea. It is essential to spread butter on your crumpets the butter will melt and ooze into the open texture of the crumpet making it taste delicious. (You can use Marge but it is not as good.) . You can eat your crumpets just like this plain and buttered, remember to eat them while still hot. I like mine with jam on sometimes either Strawberry or blackberry jelly, I guess that is a childhood memory and taste as my mum used to make both. The black berry jelly delicious the heat of the crumpet having made the butter melt would them make the blackberry jelly melt and it would ooze into the crumpet making every bite delicious. These mad a super after school treat. My husband likes marmite on his he says it is tasty I make him brush his teeth after one of these before he kisses me marmite kisses yeeukk. Crumpets are good at teatime with savoury toppings grated cheese on top of a crumpet is gorgeous as the cheese begins to melt into the air holes of the crumpet. Put ham on your crumpet and a little cheese on top of the ham if the crumpet has gone cold so that the cheese does not melt just pop it under the grill for a moment or two mmmmmmm scrummy mummy that’s a good tea time snack. The crumpet we ate were tesco value
they are a fine crumpet cost29p for a pack of 9. They are a good crumpet not the best but good full of small air holes. Really good for a winter’s afternoon tea. Thanks for reading Mary
