Advantages: Good Quality, Tasty, Dirt Cheap
Disadvantages: None
Tesco Value Digestive Biscuits are seriously cheap at 31p for a 400g packet. The same size packet from McVities costs £1.26, and the same size Tesco own brand product costs 69p. So there's quite a saving to be had by switching to these value biccies.
Opening up the packet for the first time, I was initially a bit disappointed with these. The very first biscuit in my packet was broken! Okay, this could happen to any digestive that was mistreated in transit, but for it to happen the first time I tried this particular brand was just asking for me to form a bad impression.
These were saved from being written off straight to my bad books though thanks to the all important taste test. I found that these have a really very pleasant biscuity taste to them. They're sweet without being cheaply sugar drenched, and they've got that pleasant savoury element to them that good digestive biscuits have.
They're quite tasty looking with a good, even texture as well. I wouldn't hesitate to serve these up to my mates (thought perhaps in a tupperware box and not the value packaging?). I like the smooth but firm crunch to them, and the way they dissolve nicely in my tea too.
After trying these, I won't look back and waste my money on a premium brand, or even a supermarket own brand again. These are perfectly decent little biscuits that couldn't be any cheaper if they tried.
Summary: Highly Recommended

- 13/06/09 It's always nice to know what other people think about the value brand foods before I waste my money (sometimes) buying them. These sound like a bargain too. |
