Advantages: Cheap and taste good

Disadvantages: A little poorer than the McVities Digestives

These 33p digestives are a bargain. Normal digestives are priced usually around a pound or more yet these little beasts are only 33p. They used to be 25p before the credit crunch but 33p is still more than acceptable. I am a huge biscuit lover, I love almost any type of biscuit but there is a charm to a digestive.

In flavour and texture these only lack slightly when compared to that of a standard high class digestive biscuit. The only real difference is the presentation, because these biscuits are from the Tesco value range they have the rather ugly blue and white packaging. In every Tesco I have been in they are always on the bottom shelf in rows of boxes that look like they have been discarded without a care. Maybe this is to try and turn away customers and make them by the 44p Tesco standard range instead as Tesco do not make as much money on the value products. In truth many people probably do get turned away by this but you should not, as these digestives are great value for money and they taste fine.

The only drawback is that each biscuit does contain 2g of saturated fat which is ten percent of your daily guideline amount, and it is easy to eat a packet. This is no different to a McVities Digestive that actually has 2.1g of saturated fat per biscuit.

So the theory that Tesco value food is bad for you is kind of true, but in this case it is only as bad as its premium counterpart.

Summary: A great biscuit for the price!
