It tastes nice and meaty but I think there was deffo a fattier taste to the bolognese when my mum used this. It comes in big packs so there was enough bolognese to put into a container for the next day and I noticed there was fat on the top of it when it had gone cold, that doesn't happen when we use lean mince. The texture of the mince was a bit weird, the bits of mince are ...more

Premium Review Tesco Value Fresh British Beef Mince: Cheap But Not That Good! (281 words)

This mince is horrible, my mum brought it after she read some rubbish one MSE about how good it was for the price. She brought it to do a bolognese with and she always cooks them for hours but even then the mince didn't go tender at all. I dry fried it for her to get some of the fat out and the amount of oil that was left in the pan was disgusting. The mince started looking proper dry while it was frying and even though it plumped up again when it was cooking in the sauce it still stayed looking a bit gristly and bulky. Premium Review Beef - Fatten up (400 words)

Intro ----- I definately think that beef mince is one of those products that tastes pretty similar no matter how much you spend on it. Therefore, it makes sense, when trying to save money, to cut down on this type of product and try to make some big savings. I was impressed with both the taste and freshness of this product. However, the nutritional side of things ensures there is still much to be desired. The taste test ------------------ I enjoyed eating my mince. I added it to my cottage pie that i like to whip up every now and again and i really could not taste the difference between this and the last occasion that i ...  Read the complete review

Like most people at the moment my wife and I are trying to cut down on our spending and the shopping bill is the thing we are really trying to get down. I am a keen amature cook and normally quite a food snob and I certainly believe that you really shouldn't skrimp on certain products, especially meats. But when we saw how much i was spending on steak mince or Tesco's finest mince the cost was piling up, so for a experiment this month we decided to go for the value mince and see how that worked out. Due to the fact that mince is just a basis of most foods i cook and you add all the flavourings to it i thought at £1.21 for 500g pack that is was a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review How fat is this? (360 words)

Minced meat has always carried some "warning" in my mind. Is it really minced from the fresh meat, is it minced from fat or is there also meat? How do I know that I am not being ripped off and there are other cuts of meat? Tesco Value minced meat sells for 1.21 for half a kilo and each 100 gramms give you 320 calories. It is surely cheaper than any other minced meat, but is it worth? The packaging is the usual Tesco Value one, with red, white and blue colours. The meat can be seen through the transparent package. I do not buy this meat too often, but I never had any issue with its freshness. What do I prepare with ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Fresh British Beef Mince: Tesco Value Mince (598 words)

I am trying so hard to save some pennies at the moment with Christmas being just around the corner. I love fresh meat from the butchers but at the moment I just can't afford it, so I thought i'd try the supermarket ranges of meat instead. I thought i'd start from the bottom and work my way up so opted for the Tesco Value mince to see how it faired. ~The Product~ Tesco Value mince is quite thick in comparison to other 'better quality' minces on the shelves was the first thing that caught my eye. The premium mince from Tescos is much thinner and looks more appealing and better quality but I still brought the Value mince to taste test. When I ...  Read the complete review
