As far as yoghurts are concerned, I have never been a brand snob. I'll try any variety, whether it is the cheap Smart Price option from Asda, or the more expensive rich and creamy options. Though I will admit if I had the choice I would go for a brand name, along the lines of Muller or Danone. One of my latest buys though saw me trying a store's own brand, in the form of Tesco's Value Fromage Frais. First of all I just want to get one thing clear - in terms of the whole eating experience, there is not a great deal of difference between the fromage frais and the yoghurt. So throughout this review, I will be referring to this product as a 'yoghurt'. I just ... Read the complete review

I am constantly on the look out for good value alternatives to the top brand offerings being pushed at us on a daily basis. Although I am not a fan of any sort of yogurts, my wife and kids are. So I thought why not drop down a level or two and try Tesco's own Value Fromage Frais. So after about a month of switching to this brand I was all set to announce it as resounding success; almost, but not quite. So what do you get for your 45 pence? Well, to begin with you get 6 x 60g pots. There are three flavours; Strawberry, Apricot, and Raspberry; 2 of each flavour. As you would expect the packaging is pretty basic, although Tesco do manage to display pictures of ... Read the complete review

When it comes to buying 'value' products some are really great and offer a good alternativve at a cheaper price. Some products however have to be a brand name, I would only ever by Heinz Beans or Tomato Sauce for example. Fromage Frais' I think are a product you can get away with buying cheaper and I don't think you get much cheaper than the Tesco Value Range. Fromage Frais' are not something I have ever bought before until I had children. When a baby starts weaning and they are first introduced to food, Fromage Frais' are a great thing to give your baby and I was advised by a health visitor to give them to my baby. When I looked in the ... Read the complete review

The aim of this product is to provide a cheap and healthy fromage frais yoghurt for kids. Other brands such as Petits Filous, while providing a superior product in terms of taste and quality, don't have much of a difference in the nutritional content of the product. This pack of yoghurts consists of 6 small yoghurts, 3 flavours: strawberry, raspberry and apricot. There are 2 of each. They have the familiar blue and white Tesco Value packaging, with little pictures of the fruit on the top. The idea of fromage frais is to provide a 'creamy' consistency of the yoghurt, with enough in there for growing kids. A 100g serving of this gives 90 calories, around 12g of ... I was surprised to find that these Tesco Value Fromage Frais are actually quite acceptable tasting. They only cost 49p for a pack of six individually sealed pots and I think that's pretty unbeatable. They taste a little bit cheesier than more expensive fromage frais does, and they're not quite as sweet or fruity either. But they are actually perfectly acceptable and if I was a baby, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this cheap pudding and an expensive one! They taste like the flavours they're supposed to be, only not overly sweet (which in fairness you wouldn't want them to be for the kids). They're quite thick in texture and they're nice ...
