As far as yoghurts are concerned, I have never been a brand snob. I'll try any variety, whether it is the cheap Smart Price option from Asda, or the more expensive rich and creamy options. Though I will admit if I had the choice I would go for a brand name, along the lines of Muller or Danone. One of my latest buys though saw me trying a store's own brand, in the form of Tesco's Value Fromage Frais.

First of all I just want to get one thing clear - in terms of the whole eating experience, there is not a great deal of difference between the fromage frais and the yoghurt. So throughout this review, I will be referring to this product as a 'yoghurt'. I just wanted to set that straight as the last time I reviewed a similar product, I found a member or two splitting hairs over the fact that it was not the same thing.

I couldn't make up my mind which yoghurts I wanted to try on this particular occasion, and to be perfectly honest I am sort of running out of new options in Tesco! Though it suddenly came to my attention that I had not sampled this pack of six yoghurts from Tesco's own range. With a few quid in my pocket and a craving bigger than the sun (big bright thing, not the newspaper), I decided now was a good a time as ever to give them a go.

The yoghurt pots can be recognised by the traditional Value range colours. The pots themselves are quite small, each one attached to the next, and white in colour. Across their middle they have a blue band of colour, and a little blue strip on their shiny plastic lids too. Thankfully it is not so dull, as each lid has a picture of its flavour. On two you will find images of luscious raspberries, on another two apricots and on the final two you can see strawberries. This is quite handy as it highlights the flavours you will hopefully be enjoying straight away.

The packaging may not be too exciting, but it does not for one moment mean that the product itself will not be. Sitting myself down with a little pot of raspberry yoghurt, I peeled back the lid, hoping for a delicious aroma. I was met with a very faint, but distinguishable raspberry scent that barely drifted from the pot. Though its pale pink shade did look very appealing. Giving the yoghurt a taste, shovelling some of the reasonably thick substance into my mouth, I discovered that its flavour was much more appealing. It had quite a sweet raspberry taste, very delightful and soothing.

Since the pots are quite little, I decided to try the apricot option there and then. I discovered that this one had a much stronger aroma than the previous, although still nothing too powerful. It was a soft peachy colour, very easy on the eyes. Giving this one a taste, I found that it was slightly more bitter than the raspberry option, though still reasonably sweet. It had quite a strong apricot flavour too which was wonderful. I am not overly keen on apricot yoghurts with 'bits' so this was definitely a lovely option.

Last but not least came the strawberry option, which I decided to try the next morning. Removing the lid showed that there was no real difference in terms of colour between this one and the raspberry option. It even smelled quite similar, however since this aroma was quite faint, it was quite hard to tell. I was quite surprised when I discovered that its flavour was quite a bit stronger than the raspberry option though, a delicious strawberry sensation filling my mouth. It was so creamy and sweet, an utter delight!

Seeing as these luscious little pots of yoghurt were quite small, I didn't expect them to be packed with calories. Unfortunately the nutritional information is printed on the side of the pots which of course have been binned already. When I went to check on-line to find out the nutritional values, I discovered that this was not stated, much to my disappointment. Though Asda do similar 60g fromage frais options just like these, and they state that they have 60 calories, 1.8g fat, and 6g sugars per pot. This would sound about right for the Tesco options, and if this is the case, then these yoghurts really are not bad. However since you'd tend to eat two at a time since they are quite petite, the figures would naturally have to be doubled.

Not only are these yoghurts delicious, but they are useful too. They're the perfect size to add to a bowl of weetabix to create a healthy and delicious breakfast. They would also be great with berry fruits or cereals. The pots themselves are good size for arts and crafts, with a pot making a wonderful nose for a robot or foot for a little dog. They're an ideal size to just pop into a lunchbox and eat on the go too - just remember a spoon!

In comparison to other products, these are nothing special. Most stores do their own brand of little fromage frais, about the same size and with similar flavours. They are also the same price as Asda's, at 45p for the pack of six. In fact, I would say Asda's are preferred as the packaging is a lot more attractive, and that is basically the only difference. These are definitely worth trying if your nearest supermarket is a Tesco branch (they seem to be taking over the world, so there is bound to be one nearby!), but its not worth travelling out miles for!

These are definitely delicious and are perfect for little children and adults alike. They're delicious and healthy, and can add a bit of flavour to the more basic and bland food products. They are not too expensive either so will not stretch the purse strings, and are widely available in the many Tesco stores. Next time you are on the lookout for a cheap and tasty fromage frais option, give these a try.
