... of 15 minutes at peak times during the weekends and in summer you surely do not want to leave this ice cream for more than one hour away from the freezer. The packaging is the traditional white blue and red of the value brand. It is easy to open and also easy to scoop. As long as you leave it in the freezer, it can last a reasonable amount of time. The texture is creamy, but not as creamy as other brands I have tried, but I would say it is ok. The flavour is not too bad, but do not expect a feast of the senses. It i...more

Premium Review Tesco Value Ice Cream: Cheap ice cream. Go on, have the whole tub away! (426 words)

For a 2 litre tub of ice cream to cost well under £1, you would probably wonder and worry about what you were eating. The fact that it takes a buy one get one free offer to match the price with most ice creams with quality names associated with them makes you wonder if you're going to get a nice creamy ice cream, or some tasteless mush that doesn't scoop very easily and doesn't fill you with confidence. I'm happy to say that, although it isn't the creamiest or tastiest ice cream out there, this stuff is still quite nice and does the job. It's cheap, and carries the familiar Tesco Value packaging that is instantly noticeable in the store. Quite often, the range ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Ice Cream: Ice Cream, in this weather! (370 words)

I've been buying this for a while now, mainly for the children to eat because they could keep the ice cream manufacturers in business single handedly. ~The Product~ The ice cream is very white and looks quite anaemic. It comes in 2 litre tubs. And at 134 calories per 100g it seems pretty reasonable calorie wise to me. Of that 100g there are 17.5g of sugar, which again for an ice cream seems about average. For people with allergies, the product is a nut free recipe but the factory in which its made packages nuts elsewhere. So it cannot be guaranteed nut free. ~Consistency~ The ice cream is packaged as being ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco ice cream (278 words)

Tesco value brand offer very good value for money on most products, and their soft scoop ice cream is one of those. It comes in a 2 litres tub and cost in the region of 75 pennies. It is relatively low caloric and although not as creamy as more prestigious brands, it goes well as a dessert. It can be found in the freezer department of Tesco. Like with any other ice cream, I suggest you take it at the end of your shopping. At least in my local Tesco the queue at the till can be in excess of 15 minutes at peak times during the weekends and in summer you surely do not want to leave this ice cream for more than one hour away from the freezer. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Ice Cream: I suppose you cold call it Ice Cream (277 words)
by - written on 30/07/09 (Very useful, 29 readings)

When it comes to eating ice cream, I used to enjoy the bigger and premium brands to enjoy as a desert or just to treat myself. I then choose to eat Tesco Value Ice Cream because of it being more economically efficient to consume in large quantities. At one point I decided to consume ice cream on a more regular basis to increase my daily intake of calories and to get my sugar fix. The packaging of the ice cream is very basic with a white background and simple label on the cover. The colours are very simple and plain, in the Tesco colour scheme of red and blue. Therefore if you were specifically looking for this ice in an aisle it probably wouldn't ...  Read the complete review
