Premium Review Tesco Value Jaffa Cakes: Save cash and calories (166 words)
by - written on 16/12/09 (Useful, 13 readings)
Rating:

I always look for value versions of products such as biscuits due to the huge price difference and my being a tightwad. I was pleased to find that Tesco Value Jaffa's retailed at 38p for 24 whilst McVities were selling at 12 for 98p. The packaging is just like other Tesco value products: plain, unpretencious, yet at least functional in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Like Jaffa Cakes, but not quite (193 words)
by - written on 04/12/09 (Very useful, 8 readings)
Rating:

These are so similar to 'real' jaffa cakes, that i couldn't tell them apart (see my other review for specifics), and i'd challenge anyone to find a real difference between them. Much like normal jaffa cakes these are small circular sponge cakes. I'd hazard a guess and say they are marginally smaller than the mcVities brand. They have a ...  Read the complete review

I don't buy java cakes often, but I recently needed a sugar fix and I didn't think I could go wrong with this item, because it was only 57p for 25 jaffa cakes. *********** The Packaging ************** The jaffa cakes are split into two plastic cases and they are both in a cardboard Tesco's value box, which is typical of the ...  Read the complete review

Any regular readers of my reviews will be aware by now that I am a huge lover of biscuits and cakes and anything that is nice and sweet really, such is the control that my sweet tooth has over me! I have not been too well recently and so my partner has taken over a few of the domestic duties that need done. One of these is shopping for ...  Read the complete review

As i am following the Weightwatchers programme at the minute, i am always looking for low calorie and low point products that i can eat without worrying about more fat rolling onto my thighs! I was at my Weightwatchers meeting yesterday and the leader told me and the rest of the class to try Tesco Value Jaffa Cakes as they only had half ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A great tasting and (much) cheaper jaffa cake! (367 words)
by - written on 04/11/09 (Very useful, 68 readings)

I decided to grab a pack of these, as an offer had recently finished on McVities and I didn't really want to pay full price for Jaffa Cakes. This Tesco value pack costs 38p for 30 Jaffa Cakes, which works out a mere £0.126p per Jaffa - sounds good to me! The Jaffa cakes come in typical Tesco Value packaging. A white cardboard box, with ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Jaffa Cakes: The Russian Roulette of Jaffa cakes (241 words)

Having tried the sainsbury basic jaffa cakes, we thought we'd give the tesco equivalent. The first box of Tesco jaffa cakes that I bought were, well, only ok. They looked like jaffa cakes, but the cakes at the bottom of the pack were all a bit crumbled and mashed together. So the taste test. The first jaffa out of the box was ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Cheap Jaffa Cakes..But Are They Nasty? (327 words)
by - written on 01/11/09 (Very useful, 38 readings)

I have been known to devour an entire pack of Jaffa Cakes in one sitting. Yes that is right, that's 24 biscuits in one go. They don't count as a cake and they don't quite come under biscuit. It's a merge of the two, which makes it alright to eats lots in one go! McVities are usually the make I plump for, though aren't Jaffa Cakes ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Jaffa Cakes: 38p?! (345 words)
by - written on 25/10/09 (Very useful, 33 readings)

We've always had McVities or Tescos own Jaffa Cakes in our house but when we went shopping a few months ago we couldn't believe the difference in price! For 24 McVities Jaffa Cakes, you will pay £1.62, for 24 Tesco value Jaffa Cakes you will pay just 38p which is less than a quarter of the price! We decided to give these a go and I'm glad we ...  Read the complete review

My daughters absolutely love jaffa cakes as a treat and after going through several McVities boxes I thought we would try the Tesco alternative for the cheaper price of 38p for 24 biscuits. I wasn't holding out much hope for them being the best biscuits I'd ever tasted, but at the same time, my girls are 1 and 3 so haven't quite acquired a vast ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Jaffa Cakes: For people who dont taste their biscuits! (426 words)

I am a firm believer in supermarket alternatives to costly big name brands in terms of simple products, such as baked beans, tinned tomatoes, mayonnaise, potatoes, even plain biscuits like digestives and rich tea. Most 'value' 'basics' range products are edible in some circumstances (e.g. kids parties, new year's parties), but often more complex ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Jaffa Cakes? No, thanks (870 words)

My husband adores Jaffa Cakes and I suppose, given his sweet tooth, they are one of the better things in the sweets, cakes and biscuits selection that he can eat. We recently tried the Tesco version of Jaffa Cakes and couldn't tell the difference between these and the 'real' Jaffa Cakes. I wrote a review about them - of course - and ...  Read the complete review

There is usually a box of these in my house thesedays. I like Jaffa Cakes, but my husband loves them! Although it was usually McVities that we had, and I never grudged the price of them as they were good. After looking around at the Supermarkets Value Jaffa Cakes, and trying them all, I realised that the VAlue ones are just as nice and at a ...  Read the complete review

I have loved Jaffa Cakes since, well forever! I was in my local Teso's store the other day when I was looking at the Jaffa Cakes, when I noticed that Teco do there own value one for just 38p for a pack of 24, which is a majority cheaper than Mcvities Jaffa Cakes, so I picked me up two boxes off them! What is it? It is basically ...  Read the complete review

I love Jaffa cakes and as a general rule, if Tesco or Asda or Sainsbury offer a product, I always check whether it is good. The Tesco Jaffa cakes cost 38p for 24 of them and are worth every penny. The box is the typical value box of Tesco, in bright blue, red and white. There is a label withy the nutritional value, each ...  Read the complete review

Jaffa Cakes? So if they're a cake, why are they in the biscuit aisle? Just wondering! I don't eat that many cakes/biscuits/sweet things to be honest. I'm more of a savoury person , but one thing I am partial to and can wolf down like Pringles, i.e. "Once you pop you can't stop!" is Jaffa Cakes. I always just ...  Read the complete review

Tesco value jaffa cakes are basically what they say on the tin, a cheap home brand replica of the original jaffa cake which is made my mcvities, and which tastes really great too. They may be cheaper than the mcvities jaffa cake, and you would think therefore they would perhaps taste cheaper? well let me tell you, that you would be, ...  Read the complete review

One of my memories as a youngster was going to my Nans. She had this huge biscuit barrel and whenever we went there to visit she'd allow us to help ourselves. There was only one make back then but since the onset of ...  Read the complete review

I have always loved jaffa cakes and it was when I was in tescos once on the approach to get some I noticed that their value jaffa cakes were half the price of the leading brand and contained twice as many! Are they cakes or are they biscuits? I think cake, as they are made of sponge. Feel free to argue with me on this one though, lol. I have bought these on many occasions and I, along with the rest of my family, are very happy with them. ...  Read the complete review
