I have loved tinned meat balls in tomato sauce since I was a child and my toddler son has the same taste. I have only ever eaten bought the branded product. I bought a can of the value meatballs from Tesco's after reading a positive review on Dooyoo however I still felt dubious and these have lingered in my cupboard. However my son currently has a cough and cold and sore throat so have been trying to think of tasty soft foods to tempt him to eat. I did intend to make him once more the branded Meatballs as I know it is something he does like but as there were none in the cupboard it was time to try the value range. The meatballs are 38p for a 392g ...  Read the complete review

Being bored with my usual food choices, I've taken to trying out the Tesco Value range a lot more. Pottering through the Tesco aisles, I spotted their Value range of meatballs, and at 38p per tin, I thought I'd give them a go. Product: The value range of packaging is pretty standard and easily recognisable. They appear to have put slightly more effort into the packaging than a few years back; treating us with a picture of the product! I'm easily pleased... The tin tells it like it is; 'Meatballs in tomato sauce'. The nutritional values per serving (half of a 392g can) are as follows: Calories - 240 Sugar - ...  Read the complete review

I was served up a bowl of meatballs, pasta sauce and spaghetti recently and really lapped it up. I normally have my spaghetti bolognese with something like a ragu sauce and either minced beef or something like TVP mince. But one day the 'body' of the bolognese was served up to me in the form of meatballs. With the meatball spaghetti experience, I found there was a lot more flavour happening - you can actually taste the meatiness rather than ocassionally notice it in between mouthfulls of pasta and spaghetti sauce. My meatball bolognese left my mind for a while until I was in Tesco one day and my eye caught the words 'Meatballs' on the side of a tin, ...  Read the complete review

In an attempt to reduce my shopping bill, I bought a can of Tesco value meatball in tomato sauce. My daughter enjoys pasta or spaghetti with meatball on a regular basis. The meatball were only 29p a tin which I though was very good value compared to other brands. The tin is identifies by the basic label white with blue strips it also has a photo or some very tasty looking meatballs. The meal. I cooked the meatballs on the hob for 5 minutes but they still seemed very hard so I left them a bit longer I think they had nearer 10 minutes before I served them. They need to be on a gentle heat if the hob is too hot sauce will pop out everywhere. There is a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Meatballs In Tomato Sauce: Meatballs anyone? (239 words)

I purchased the Tesco Value Meatballs In Tomato Sauce for 29p from my local Tesco superstore. They come in a basic can which does not have a ring pull but can easily be opened by any basic tin opener. The label is white with a red band and bares the blue & white Tesco Value logo so it's easy to spot on the shelves. You get 392g and these can be cooked on the hob (in 4-5 minutes) or in the microwave (cooking times vary from 3 1/2 minutes - 2 1/2 minutes depending on the wattage of your microwave). I personall cook these on the hob and prefer to serve them with rice or mashed potato. The sauce is not to rich, quite ...  Read the complete review
