Advantages: Cheap, nice sweets
Disadvantages: E numbers
At 28p for a 200g bag of sweets, you surely can't go wrong, can you? Well, Tesco Value have a generally good range of products. I have sadly had the misfortune of trying out a couple of their less 'quality' items recently, but I'm glad to say that these are actually very good indeed.
A bag of sweets, for me, is hard to mess up. I have a sweet tooth, therefore I'd like some sweets, please. I'm not fussy: something sugary that doesn't make me grimace when the 'juice' from it hits my taste buds is all I ask for. And that's what I got from Tesco Value Midget Gems.
For a start, the price is very enticing to pop it into you basket or trolley. For this to keep happening, it needs to deliver on the product as well, and you get the usual sweet smell that you get when you open any bag of sweets, really. And there are a variety of flavours, all of which contain a plethora of flavourings, sweeteners and colourings, E numbers making you whiz around like no one's business. The sweets themselves are small, 'gem'-shaped sweets, and it's easy to pop a few in your mouth at a time........too easy!
But they're sweets, and to a certain extent, you have to look beyond any nutritional or calorific values, because it's probably not advisory to be eating sweets if you're watching what you eat anyway...... The price is a complete bargain, product is decent enough, and there's a good amount in the bag. Sure, you don't perhaps get the same richness of flavour that other, more expensive brand names might give you, but they're not so weak that it seems pointless having them, and I consider this one of Tesco Value's bargains as opposed to one of their disappointing 'you get what you pay for' items.
Summary: Great value bag of sweets
