Advantages: Cheap, taste okay

Disadvantages: Not the greatest quality, nothing special

These milk chocolate digestive bars are part of the Tesco value range of foods. My gran buys them on a constant basis. When me and my brother were kids, we were allowed a chocolate bar when we went round there, as a treat. Now, my 5 year old son finds himself in the same situation whenever he goes round to hers. As such, she constantly stocks them.

You buy them in a multipack of 18, which costs around £1. They come out at around 6p each, and although they are small bars, a snack sized bar of choc is often just what you need, as opposed to a full sized bar. Nutritionally, there's nothing special about them, pretty standard really. Each bar gives you 90 calories, with 4.5g of fat and 5.2g of sugar. And again, tastewise, it's nothing special, either. It has a thin coating of chocolate around a crumbly digestive centre, neither of which are particualrly great. They taste okay, and the initial chocolate buzz that you can get does last for a little while, but ultimately, it's cheap quality at cheap prices. There's nothing special about anything here, although, it tastes nice enough.

I suppose when you consider the fact that you're getting 18 chocolate digestive bars (albeit small ones) for around £1, then the value is evident. That the quality isn't of the highest level doesn't really factor into the experience of eating one in many ways, because you're getting what you pay for. There are many other chocolate biscuits out there which taste a lot worse than this but cost more. These are priced very low and actually have a decent taste to them. Like I said, nothing special, but decent enough.

When making a comparson with other biscuits, this one usually comes round the middle. Great in terms of value, average in every other way, I would recommend getting them every now and then, or if you fancy a fair amount of choc biscuits without having to spend a fortune.

Summary: A decent Tesco Value product
