... bought two of these and covered the pizza with it - normally the pizza only requires one ball of mozzarella, but I felt like pushing the boat out. Anyways, fast forward to taking the pizza out of the oven. The pizza was delish! Well the topping was, less said about my 'easy' homemade base the better. This mozzarella wasn't particularly tasty, but then again mozzarella isn't strong anyway. I much prefer this on a pizza as it lets the taste of the tomatoes and the basil get through - we are so used to eating shop-boug...more

Premium Review Tesco Value Mozzarella: Expect the word 'pizza' in here somewhere (489 words)

Mozzarella is such a wierd cheese. The texture is odd. It feels gruesomely rubbery and is just downright odd to the touch, but is is great on a pizza, and I needed some to make one. Finding myself with no option other than to shop at Tesco, I was in a position where I had to go for the cheaper option, being on a budget and all that. This was bought to make a home made pizza - the tastiest pizzas, and they don't need to be smothered in loads of ingredients. All you need is a homemade pizza base, which is really easy to make - flour, yeast, a little seasoning and water, then a wait for the yeast to act and the dought to rise - no harm in cheating though and ...  Read the complete review

It's a strange thing because mozzarella is about the only cheese I know which you pretty much need to cook before you can tell if it's any good, and it has to be very good mozzarella for you to be able to enjoy it without ...  Read the complete review

I do a lot of cooking and it's just unfortunate that I am on quite a tight budget at the moment so need to try and save pennies wherever possible whilst still enjoying what I cook and subsequently eat. I spotted this Tesco value mozzarella in the fridge section at my local Tesco store and at just 45p for a 125g packet I decided to put some in my basket and give it a try out that evening when cooking spaghetti Bolognese and I used the mozzarella for putting inside a home cooked baguette and adding garlic butter to create my own at home garlic bread. The mozzarella is provided in a white plastic bag which has the familiar Tesco value logo on it and ...  Read the complete review
