There was a time in my life when eating vegetables was something that I'd refuse to do. My Mam had to practically force-feed me to eat even the smallest slice of carrot with my Sunday roast, and any other healthy portion was a no-go. However a few years back vegetables became almost like an obsession, and in a bid to get healthy, I would fill my plate up with them. There is not a vegetable I am not willing to try, and there have only been one or two out of the options I have sampled which I am unlikely to eat again. If I had to pick a favourite vegetable, I couldn't manage, but I would be able to narrow it down to a select few. One of these would be the 'pea'. ... Read the complete review

Tesco value Mushy Peas ==================== They come in Tescos, by now, easily recognisable red, white and blue labelled tin. Tried these the other night. My wife likes salmon but I find salmon tasteless so I had some yellow fish. Two big pieces and a whole tin of Mushy Peas. These are not the best Mushy Peas on the market but still a decent product. Probably comes somewhere in the Middle of the range. Takes about 10 minutes in the pan, I like to cook them very slowly. But watch them carefully or they can easily burn or stick to the pan even a non stick pan! They are a almost luminous green in colour and to start with a bit ... Read the complete review

I suppose it's a Marmite thing. You know, when you either like something or hate something. I've yet to find someone who thinks they're kind of okay, someone sitting on the fence with mushy peas (no doubt that'll change after this gets bombarded with fence sitters!) However, within the scope of mushy peas, there are some brands which fall short of the mark and some that excel, that I can't get enough of. Tesco Value Mushy Peas fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. I normally expect mushy peas to have some vague pea formation in places, but generally be a pulp with a few lumps, a bit of flavour, and the perfect accompaniment to fish and ... The Other Half will not entertain the idea of Mushy peas, as far as he is concerned they simply don't exist, but I enjoy them especially alongside a good helping of freshly fried cod and chips. I live in an area where mushy peas are very popular, when I was first introduced to the green `sludgy` peas I could hardly bear to look at them, let alone taste them. But slowly curiosity got the better of me and I was drawn to taste one of our popular local delicacies. Now I am a past master, not only do I enjoy them and regularly buy myself a tin from Tesco I can manage to make a half decent pot of mushy peas myself using dried peas and soaking them overnight ... Mushy peas are strange things aren't they? By all accounts I shoudn't like them! Dried out until they are only useful for peashooters, then after a while rehydrated, then cooked to death with bicarb added to make them go mushy and a funny colour. If you treated any other vegetable like this you wouldn't want to eat them! But mushy peas are an institution here in the North of England along with fish and chips. It's all very strange! Tesco 'Smartprice' Mushy peas cost me 15p for 300g. To be perfectly honest, if I wasn't writing reviews on Dooyoo I would not have bought them. I thought I would give them a go because I would get my money back whether I liked them ... Read the complete review
