I have been trying out a lot of the products in the Tesco value range recently to see if they are any good. I thought that if I did this I could maybe save some money on my weekly shop. So far some of the products have been rubbish but some of them are quite good to. One product that I tried the other week was the Tesco value oven chips. The Tesco oven chips are in the frozen part of the Tesco store. The packaging is not nice looking or eye catching and the bag is made of plastic and is a white colour with the Tesco value logo. The bag is a very good size and it is 1.5kg. The bag costs around 75 pence. The chips are a thin size and ... Read the complete review

I have noticed a trend when buying Tesco value products, generally those which contain loads of ingredients are rubbish while the simplest products are best. I thought I was onto a real winner when it came to choosing Tesco Value oven chips, the 1.5 kg bag costs a mere 64p compared to a rather hefty £1.88 for my favourite homefries. The chips come in a simple plastic bag with the Tesco value logo showing on the front, pretty much the same packaging as any other oven chips. They contain just potatoes (96%) and sunflower oil so I thought they were bound to be good. When it came to cooking the chips I was aware that they did not look too good as soon ... I think I have a slight obsession with potatoes, I always crave them in some shape or form! I love anything from jacket to roast, or mash to chips and always find a potato of some description as part of my tea, not great when you want to cut the carbs out of your diet. As you have probably guessed from my previous reviews, I shop mainly in Tesco so I thought why not give their Value Oven chips a go, chips are chips right? Not in this case I am afraid...... The Tesco chips are easily recognisable as they do have the value label on the front, having tried many other Value products in the past I saw no reason why these would be anything other than a good quality ... I am always trying to save money wherever possible so when I saw these in my local Tesco store recently I decided to pick up a bag and give them a try. The packaging is a basic plastic bag which I cut the corner from and just use a peg to keep it sealed in the freezer after I've used what I need. It carries the familiar Tesco Value logo and colouringg (red, blue & white) which shows that these are pretty cheap and cheerful really! Inside the bag is potato oven chips which are ready to be poured straight on an oven tray and put in the oven for 15-20 minutes on 220 degrees. I found they needed more like 20-25 minutes to get them a nice brown ... Read the complete review

I have tried these before but found them a bit bland and tasteless. However If you buy some of these cheaper product lines you will find that you may give them away or throw them away if your tastes buds are that fussy. If you don't cook them long enough they are chewy and bland however if you get a bit of a burn and get them crispy, they have a bit of a flavour and you can always dunk them in a pot of Curry, tomato sauce or a cheesy dip (Fondu). However, they are only potatoes after all and you can do a lot with them by sprinkling over some grated cheese (Stilton is nice) or roast them with a mixtuer of peppers, onions with a touch of herbs and spices with a ...
