Tesco do milk chocolate and plain chocolate coated digestives in their Value range of biscuits. The dark chocolate ones are my favourite.

For 39p you get a packet containing 24 biscuits. There is nothing fancy about the packaging but there really is no need for there to be. The packet is made from that plastic like stuff that is impossible to get into without scissors, or a knife, but Tesco has thought of that. There is a red strand running around the top of the packet and pulling this opens it for you.

The trouble is that three biscuits fall out as soon as you open the tube. These three biscuits just have to be eaten immediately.

The biscuits are quite dark coloured digestives with very thinly spread chocolate over one side of them. I found that the biscuits crumble when you bite them as they are quite brittle and they certainly make a lot of crumbs. The chocolate is bitter and only just sufficient to cover the biscuit but for the money it is excellent value.

If you are a biscuit 'dunker' these need to be handled with care. I dipped one in my tea and ended up with chocolate floating in it. The chocolate melts easily in a hot drink and on your fingers. It didn't take much dunking to make the biscuit disintegrate into the bottom of the cup. O~kay, most people don't dunk chocolate biscuits, but I do.

I sometimes use these chocolate digestives with ice cream to make a posh looking dessert. Crumble one over the ice cream and put another two in the ice cream in the same way as you would do wafers. Tesco Value chocolate digestives are cheap enough to do this with.

Each biscuit has 85 calories so eating six, which is what I have just done is equivalent to eating and extra meal. Then I read on the packet about that 12g of fat in the six biscuits that I'd eaten and decided it was time to put the remainder away.

I don't know how long I will be able to resist them for but I suspect that they will be gone before bed time.

For the price these biscuits are worth buying and they are very good value. I will certainly buy them again.
