I'm not kidding when I say that these are great value! (Tesco Value Red Kidney Beans)

Every now and again I take to the kitchen and make a lovely Chilli Con Carne. It's simple and relatively quick to make and it goes down well with the boys! I begrudge paying over the odds for ingredients that you can't really taste because they are thrown into the mixture and these kidney beans are one of them.

On opening the tin you are met with lots of kidney beans and they are sat in water which has turned a little red from the beans. The beans are a good size and are red in colour.

On there own these beans taste very bland but when you add them a dish they not only add a source of protein to whatever you are making but they also end up tasting like the dish that you have included them in. They have a smooth outer layer but the inside is very soft.

I love using these because I like the fact that they are a good source of protein. I sometimes add them to the top of my salads and Noah and Elijah love to eat them straight from the tin! I tend to put them in a little bowl and kid them into thinking that they are little sweets!! Mad I know but if it works then why not?

In my opinion these are just as good as the leading brand and are much cheaper at 25p for a 400g tin.
