Advantages: Cheap, cheap, and cheap!
Disadvantages: None found as of yet.
OK - Rich Tea biscuits, - one of the staple foods on my snack list. Probably mostly used as comfort food to be quite honest, and so needs to be cheap. The Tesco Value range fits the vill perfectly. These are decent biscuits, but sold under the value banner, meaning they are very cheap indeed, 25 pence to be exact! You will be hard pressed to find a packet of biscuits for less.
They are suitable for dunking, however, you only need to stab the hot liquid with the bickie, otherwise the said biscuit will simply "disolve" into your drink within a couple of nano seconds.
I must say that if these were offered in a "blind" test, I feel sure they would come out as good as any Brand Name. The texture is identical to other makes, the dusty sweet smell is the same, they certainly taste and look exactly like all the others, and the only difference to my mine is the price.
The packaging is purely functional, being in a minimum number of colours, and still displaying all the information required. It seals the product against moisture, and keeps that fresh taste.
Each packet, is said to contain about 38 biscuits, although if you count them, you may find one or two more. I like finding extras, and feel I have got a little bonus, however this packet is sold on weight (300 Grammes) so an extra biscuit simply means they are lighter than average.
I must point out that these do contain wheat, just in case anyone has a wheat alergy. Apart from this, there seems to be nothing artificial in the ingredients.
I simply can not fault these, and next time you are offered Rich Tea biscuits at a Royal Garden Party, just think, they may well be Tesco Value - you would simply not know!
As with all Tesco products, you are sure of quality, and you also get points, so if you need biscuits that are of no nutritional value, go for these without fail. If you need some for anything else, like an Everest expedition, get your money out and buy something elso, you will need more than 25 pence though!
Summary: A very economic dunker.
