... usually substantially more in store. But in other comparisons, such as content, taste, and what it's like when it's heated, then you might be persuaded to pay a bit more and get something with a bit more to it. However, if, like me, you're more than happy buying them as something quick to nibble as a snack, that will barely see the inside of your car let alone microwave or oven, then they're good enough. They fill a hole, taste okay, and don't make too much mess. The packaging is pretty inconsequential, as the Value range...more

Ok so the Italians have the pizza, Mexican's the Taco, the French the baguette and the Spanish tapas, what is a traditional British Snack, something we can rely on to replenish in a crisis, something quick, tasty and filled with goodness, thats right i'm talking about the good old roll of Sausage, its something thats about as fashionable nowadays as your old Brother Beyond album, but its still going strong with fans buying packets quietly hidden in their baskets and scuttling home quickly to enjoy guiltily without reproach from the calorie police and the healthy food brigade. I had a pack of these on the train home last night and had to keep checking if ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review This sausage is on a roll (285 words)

Sausage rolls are something I normally avoid, because you just know they're so unhealthy. However, I was given a pack of these the other day, so what could I do (answers in the comments box!) So, a sausage roll is made up of minced sausage meat in a pastry coating. These are the bigger ones (about the size of a small sandwich). The sausage meat was really just like any sausage meat - a tad salty, but filling. The pastry, however, was really really nice. First up it was soft on the inner layer, making it moist and fresh tasting. The outer layer was a bit crumbly, which is how I like it. The down-side of this is it flakes about when you're eating, and ...  Read the complete review

Last week I was reading a review of these and my hubby came home that very day with an 8 pack. I wasn't intending on eating any because I am trying to be dead healthy but I have had a three day relapse so I did sample two. I can't tell you the price of these because my hubby was given them by his boss but I can tell you that they are of Tesco's own brand and they come in various sizes. As you can see the ones in the picture are in a two pack but like I have already said, the pack we had consisted of eight sausage rolls. I like to eat these hot or cold and since it was a nice sunny day, I opted to have mine cold alonside a nice, colourful salad ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review GREASY, SOGGY MESS (402 words)

Following on from I Am Joy again, I spotted these in Tesco last night, and I know she didn't rate them well, I was up for the challenge to see if I thought any more of them. Read on. You get 2 Sausage Rolls and they cost 48p. They are a good size as well. They are found in the chiller section, next to the Pies. Packaging isn't that exciting. They are just in a clear bag, with some blue writing on them and the Tesco Value logo on the pack. On the front of the pack it says these are freezable, but the date on them was alright. You can eat these cold, but I wouldn't recommend eating them straight from the fridge, as they are a bit solid. I ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Sausage Roll: A greasy, spongy mess! (545 words)

I am rather partial to a sausage roll, I like to have one with a salad as the hot component to my meal as it's satisfyingly greasy but won't completely blow my calorie allowance for the day so long as I have it with the obligatory lettuce, tomato and cucumber. While I usually buy Pork Farms sausage rolls or a similar brand last week my eye came upon a pack of two decent sized Tesco Value Sausage Rolls for 49p, I decided to buy a pack to try as I remember eating a Sainsbury's own brand sausage roll at my daughter's house and finding it to be very tasty. These, however, are not very tasty. They are greasy and horrible and I shall never eat them again. I ...  Read the complete review
