Tesco Value Soft Cheese

... that attractive, but you aren't paying for fancy packaging with a Value product, what matters is what it tastes like. The soft cheese looks creamy and thick. It was easy to spread on toast and sandwiches, and looked just as good as a more expensive one. It tasted very good, too, and was rich and creamy. I couldn't tell this apart from a more expensive brand. As this is a full fat product, the fat content is a lot higher than a reduced fat version. It contains 245kcal per 100g, as well as 23.0g of fat (14.4g satura...more

I buy soft cheese quite often, as we use it in a variety of ways, such as in sandwiches, spreading on toast and crackers, and as an ingredient in pasta dishes and cheesecakes. It can also be used to make a dip for crudites, crisps and tortilla chips. The branded soft cheeses, eg. Philadelphia, are usually expensive, unless they are on offer, so I tend to buy the own brand ones, which I think are just as good, and are a lot cheaper. They are also available in low fat, as well as full fat, and a variety of different flavours (herb, garlic, etc). The Tesco Value version of soft cheese is only available in full fat and is plain and without any added flavourings. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review 45p of yumminess! (338 words)

I have great confidence in the tesco value range but mainly stick to the less 'messed' around with items such as cheese, meat, fruit and veg. The ready meals do not appeal to me and the pies and slices will never have the opportunity to grace my shopping trolley. I do buy the value noodles as they are a fantastic snack for the kids. When my mum saw this in tesco, knowing how much i love phillie and i absolutely abore the tesco own soft cheese she took it upon herself to risk the 45p and bought it to me to have a try. Her theory was that if i didn't like it then the kids would eat it as they are gannets and will eat anything! So with much trepidation ...  Read the complete review

Just before Christmas a friend of mine recommended Tesco Value Soft Cheese to me knowing how much I love cheese in almost all its forms! As we are all trying to save a few pennies at the moment I thought I would try it and then report back to you all so we could all enjoy the savings! 200g of Tesco Value Soft Cheese costs just 45p as opposed to 79p for 250g of the standard full fat version or 81p for 250g of the Light Choices Extra Light version. The cheese comes in an oblong plastic container which isn't very deep. It has a clear plastic lid through which you can see the peel off foil lid below. The design on the foil is very simple as with all the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A winner! (321 words)

Tesco soft and creamy FULL FAT cream cheese. Well I was in desperate need of cream cheese for a last minute cheese cake for a good friend, and my budget was pretty tight. Philadelphia has always been the number one favorite with me, and I knew what I would be getting, but with only a few euro to spend, and Tesco Value beckoning to me, I gave in and figured that since it would be in a cake the flavor might not be so important. At my Tesco in Ireland, this comes in a 250gram pack for 83 cents which is 74 pence. This is more then half the price of Philadelphia, so I was pretty pleased with myself, even without tasting the flavor ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Soft Cheese: Cheap and Cheeseful (274 words)

The grandson has been eating this for ages, as the daughter says it's good for him to have. The other day, I wanted to grab a quick sandwich on my way out, and decided to pinch a bit of this as an easy filling since we were out my usual marmite. I was really very impressed with this given that it's a value product. The cheese is really thick and soft, and it was easy to spread too. I was expecting it to be a bit watery or something to compensate for the cheap price. Either that or I thought it would taste vile. It tasted really rich, cheesey and creamy though. I especially liked the way this tasted in a sandwich with a few slices of cucumber. ...  Read the complete review
