Advantages: Cant tell any difference between this and more expensive brands.

Disadvantages: None.

Tesco soft and creamy FULL FAT cream cheese.

Well I was in desperate need of cream cheese for a last minute cheese cake for a good friend, and my budget was pretty tight.
Philadelphia has always been the number one favorite with me, and I knew what I would be getting, but with only a few euro to spend, and Tesco Value beckoning to me, I gave in and figured that since it would be in a cake the flavor might not be so important.

At my Tesco in Ireland, this comes in a 250gram pack for 83 cents which is 74 pence.
This is more then half the price of Philadelphia, so I was pretty pleased with myself, even without tasting the flavor yet.

After removing the plastic lid and then peeling back the tin foil top, I was greeted with the smooth clean texture of cream cheese, with a slight layer of water on top.
Before putting it in the cake I couldn't resist having a taste, and I was pleasantly surprised by not being able to tell ANY difference between this and the more expensive brands.
It was creamy smooth and full of flavor and was just such a nice surprise, until I realized how much money I could have been saving had I known this before!

So this is definitely a winner, and will continue to be on my shopping list as I really cannot find any fault with it.
There is of course the fact that it is full fat, but since I have never been one to put on weight this isn't a problem for me, but for those who are more weight conscious then there is a reduced fat version.

Nutritional information per 100 grams:

Energy: 270 kcal

Carbohydrate: 3.2 grams (of which sugars 1.5 grams)
Fat: 26 grams

Summary: Stop buying overpriced cream cheese!
