Tesco value tinned tomatoes are a real bargain. They are one of Tesco's loss leaders and always available at a low price. Currently they are selling at 19p per 400 gram tin. There is no difference, as far as I can tell in Tesco's Value and more expensive brands when it comes to tomatoes. I must admit that I have been put off Tesco value products recently because the quality has been cut on many of their products but up to now, this one isn't affected. This brand of tinned tomatoes is no more sweet or acidic than any of the others I have tried and it's a really cheap item that can be added to meat, or pasta dishes, or simply eaten on ... Tesco Value Plum Tomatoes come in the regular 400g tin and are a cheaper viable option to the more expensive popular brands such as Napolina. I bought a tin of Napoli peeled plum tomatoes at the weekend in Asda and it cost 72p. A tin of Tesco value plum tin tomatoes cost 19p. That's even cheaper than Aldi's Carlini brand at 21p. So there are considerable savings to be made on brand choice alone. I would argue that Napolina tomatoes are of better quality and are certainly tastier and spicy. However, with the cheaper brands you can always add your own spices to bring out the flavour and they're more than good enough to be used to make sauces and soups. ... Read the complete review

I always buy value tinned tomatoes and keep a couple of cans in my cupboard for a quick meal. I had a poached egg, tinned tomatoes and toast with marmite for my lunch today so I thought I would share my experiences. Packaging ======= Available in a 400g tin in Tesco. I've always found that the tin is thinner than other cans. Thats why you will see so many dented cans of tomatoes on the shelf. Price ==== Just 19p for a tin of unchopped tomatoes. Appearance ========= I had 5 tomatoes in my tin today. They were of varying shapes and sizes. There was a lot of rather pale looking tomato juice ... Read the complete review

I use the chopped variety of Tesco Value Tinned Tomatoes all of the time. They also do a normal variety as well but I always use the chopped version as they are great when I'm making sauce for pasta or to give an extra bit of flavour to Shepherds Pie. They come in a four hundred gram tin and cost about twenty two pence a can in my local Tesco. I do not like chopped tomatoes on their own so it is a bit hard to review the actual taste as I only use them in other dishes where the taste gets masked however they certainly give Shepherds Pie a bit of a fruity tange to it as well as a bit of colour. The ony slight criticism I have is that there is a bit of ... Read the complete review

Bigger brands are usually better in my opinion but you cant realy go wrong with tomatoes can you. Tescos tinned tomatoes may cost less than 20p a tin but are just the same as other brands in reality they all contain the same main ingredient tomatoes, the only real difference I have found is that on rare occasions you will find part of the tomato skin still in the tin which is usually removed in more expensive brands but I dont mind tomato skin so this doesnt bother me, they also dont seem to add any seasoning or if they do they have added very little but this also isnt a problem as you can always add your own, a little bit of pepper and they taste ...
