Tesco offer a brilliant range of products all under one roof and apart from their vast variety they also offer a 'Value' range of products. These are distinguishable by their basic red and white packaging. They really are very good in the main and some better than others. I find the price of Plum tomatoes and chopped Italian tomatoes has soared in recent years and these were the kinds that I used to buy. I adore tin tomatoes. In fact I like them better than fresh. Tesco offer a quite adequate tin tomato variety from their basic range at a really competitive price.
Tinned tomatoes are so useful in a whole range of dishes. Including Spaghetti Bolognese, chilli con Carne, shepherds pie, and so on. In fact any meal that benefits from the flavour of tomato. I particularly like the chopped tomato option as it saves the need for chopping into sections and this saves time when cooking a meal. I love the flavour of tomato and it compliments so many foods. So with the Tesco 'Value' chopped tomato I find it suits perfectly and I keep a good stock of the 'Plum' and the chopped variety in my cupboard. I cook a lot of pasta recipes and these tomatoes are an invaluable ingredient particularly with the pasta.

These come in the familiar read and white value tin which states at the top 'Tesco Value' and these can be found in the tinned food aisle close to the Baked Beans. The tin is very basic looking though quite colourful, with a picture of the chopped tomatoes upon the front. The product is sitting in tomato juice and there is a good amount within the tin of 400g. These are vegetarian friendly and the calorie content is 34. With canned food it is best if storing in the fridge once opened, to remove contents from the can and store in a container or bowl. The product contains NO NUTS and is made in a factory without nuts though Tesco cannot guarantee that this product is nut free! Tesco recommends that you gently simmer this product for 4 minutes and do not allow to boil when cooking.-

I think the 'Value' range is great! I think the prices are excellent and if I can save a few pennies here and there...Why not! The tinned tomatoes are particularly good as opposed to the baked beans which I find are quite watery. I would wholeheartedly recommend Tesco Value chopped tomatoes to all. They are perfect in so many dishes and the can content is very good. These may not be 'Top' of the range, but they are ideal to include within our food. The flavour of the tomatoes is very nice and the pieces are a perfect size to use in a variety of dishes. Excellent value and a great food to keep handy in the stock cupboard.-
