Great chopped tomatoes for the price! (Tesco Value Chopped Tomatoes)

Advantages: cheap, good for sauces, not too watery

Disadvantages: tomato skins left in sometimes

I would buy these at Tesco everytime over the more expensive brands of chopped tomatoes. They are perfect for making soup or tomato based sauces and there is very little difference between these tins of chopped tomatoes and "premium" tins.

They are not too watery, and as I use them in sauces for pasta mainly, it tends to thicken as I cook it so it wouldn't really be an issue. I think these are probably a bit less tasty that some of the more expensive brands, obviously the quality of tomato won't be as good but who cares when you are adding garlic and herbs and things in there? You wouldn't notice any difference once all the ingredients are in.

The one issue I have with tesco value chopped tomatoes is that there are often bits of tomato skin in there. It's not a big deal, I just tend to pick it out as I am cooking but I really hate eating tomato skin so it's annoying if I miss a bit. It's so chewy and plasticy!

The tin itself is in the same colours and style as all tesco value products, I think they make it like that to try and make you ashamed at the checkout, hoping you will go for more expensive ones instead!

Well there isn't much more I can say about a cheap tin of chopped tomatoes other than I would recommend these if you are cooking soup/sauces or anything where you will be adding other stuff to it.

Summary: I always buy these chopped tomatoes, why pay double for others that aren't much better?
