Disadvantages: not such a strong flavour

Chopped tomatoes are one of those items that you always need to have on hand for sauces or dishes and it really isn't worth spending masses of money on them. After all, they are just tomato.

The tesco value tomatoes come in a plain tin, with exactly the same branding as all the other value products, but can often be found on the bottom shelves of the aisles in order to get shoppers to splash out on the more expensive brands.

In comparison to the other brands available, tesco value tomatoes are just as good, although I would say that they perhaps had a little bit more water in them and less bulk of tomato than say the napolena brand. Having said this, the volume is still identical and will do the same job as any other tin, but may have a little less flavour due to the main bulk of tomato missing.

As I previously mentioned, these are maybe a little waterier than the average but they are perfectly adequate. At only 11p a can they are certainly worth the money, and even if you have to buy two to do the same job as another brand, it's still quite a steal at 22p. I would recommend these totally for big dishes such as lasagne or spaghetti bologanise, but maybe a little less when you really need that tomato flavour.

Summary: good product from the tesco value range.
