I think tinned tomatoes are very handy to keep in my larder cupboard as they are so useful for adding to a lot of meals and dishes. I have always bought the cheapest brand available as I am always adding them to a dish with many different flavours and spices so I do not see the point in buying an expensive brand. I have bought an ... Read the complete review

Tesco Value Chopped Tomatoes Description: Tinned Vegetables. Tonights dinner was spaghetti bolognese. I like to make my own bolognese sauce so tinned tomatoes are a must. I did used to buy more expensive brands until a friend pointed out that by the time they had been cooked with all the other ingredients, they all tasted ... Read the complete review

I am constantly making chilli, bolognaise and casseroles in my show cooker and Tesco's chopped tomatoes have become a staple in my cupboard. I am trying to make tasty food on a budget and although I have tried other chopped tomatoes I just don't think these can be beaten. ******** Value******** For 19p you will get 400g of ... I used these for a spagetti bolognese as an alternative to the named brand i usually use. Unfortunately i was rather disappointed. Despite the very low cost of the tin, the supermarket has cottoned on to the trick that juice is cheaper than tomatoes, and if it was all drained off from this tin you'd only have about half a ... Being a confident cook, I'm always conjuring up something in the kitchen. I think probably 8/10 times I will reach to the cupboard and grab a tin of Tesco Value chopped Tomatoes. I always buy these in bulk and stock up so I know I have a supply in the cupboard for a pasta sauce, to make a sauce for my lamb roast, for my hubby to have on toast, the ... Read the complete review

Tesco value chopped tomatoes as a supermarket own budget branded product are found exclusively at your local Tesco's store. At just 19p for a 400g tin of tomatoes they are a real bargain. The distinctive white packaging makes the value range easily spotted on the shelf as a cheap alternative. They are not heavily ... Read the complete review

Some things i buy really need to be branded like beans for example. I always buy Heinz beans as i cannot stand the value ones. Value tinned tomatoes however are just as nice as the leading brand in my opinion. A 400g tin can be bought in my local Tesco for 23p so when i go i buy in bulk. These tins are handy to have in the cupboard and can be ... Read the complete review

There must be hundreds of recipes in the world that call on the humble tin of chopped tomatoes from time to time. So although I don't cook from scratch as often as I probably should, a few tins of these in the kitchen cupboard are pretty much essential. Yes, you can buy more expensive brands, but I reckon tomatoes are pretty much ... Read the complete review

Ah, a stock cupboard essential...aside the baked beans and tinned peas, here's the good old Tesco Value Chopped Tomatoes. Nuff said. Priced in the shop at 39p for a 400 gram tin...that's about 6p more than the peeled plum variety, chopped tomatoes are a staple of numerous foods - obvious ones such as bolognese and chilli, and despite ... In my opinion you can't really go far wrong with chopped tomatoes, that's why these are a great item to have in the cupboard. I usually use them as a base to spag bol. I find that because they are already chopped there's no fiddely buisness to be done. They cost 39p for a 400g tin and as they are chopped you get quite a nice ... Read the complete review

Now that winter is arriving so quickly, there is nothing but disappointment in store for me when buying fresh tomatoes from the supermarket shelves. Unfortunately, tomatoes that have been flown halfway around the world from sunnier climes to end up in my local shop nearly always have no taste whatsoever and are very mealy in consistency. ... We always buy these tinned tomatoes because they're so good that there's no point paying for the brand name tinned tomatoes because there's not a lot of difference between them and the only difference I can see is that the juice in these is thinner than in the more expensive tinned tomatoes. They've got more expensive this year and are ... Read the complete review

Chopped tomatoes are possibly the sole tinned goods that I MUST have in my kitchen and whihc I always have on my online grocery order; in fact I often purchase up to 5 at a time. Why? - just their sheer versatility. They act as a vital ingredient for a wide range of recipes, and are exceptionally easy to cook with - for the ... Read the complete review

Tesco chopped tomatoes currently cost 19p for a tin of 400 gramms. Normally I prefer to use fresh tomatoes, but partly due to the fact that tinned tomatoes are quicker to use, and partly because the quality of fresh tomatoes in UK is not the same as in Spain or Italy, where I have lived and got used to buy them fresh, I tend to buy the ... Looking decidely simple and cheap in appearance, with their little red and white tin that distictly makes them part of Tesco's value range, these chopped tomatoes are amazing value at only 35p per can. The tomatoes themselves seem to be of very good quality - tangy but sweet in flavour, perhaps a little too much juice for my liking, but ... Read the complete review

When it comes to value brands products can either be great or a total disaster. I am always looking to save money on my shopping bill, with a family of 5 to feed I seem to spend a fortune on food and the price of food seems to be going through the roof. At 30p a tin, these are a delightful discovery, due to the Credit Crunch we as a household have really developed a desire to save money and have found tinned tomatoes to be one of our most adaptable allies in the hard fought battle to save pennies. I enjoy cooking, and try to make as many of my meals myself as I can. I do have help from things like dried pasta, tomato puree and chopped tomatoes as I don't have the time to make these myself. Well I can't speak for everybody but certainly in our house we have been reviewing our shopping habits over the last 18 months or so, and are looking for value.
