I recently decided to try this Tesco Value Tomato Ketchup for the first time recently after my Heinz Tomato Ketchup ran out. In the past, I have been a loyal customer to the Heinz corporation, using my ketchup on pretty much anything I cook, whether it be chips, mash potatoes, steak, chicken and even my vegetables (very unhealthy I know!) so it was a fairly big step for me to venture into the world of value ketchup. The result surprised me enormously, I was not expecting to like it as much as I did, the taste is very different to Heinz and to be fair I still prefer the branded products, but as a sauce to pour over bland food it is not bad at all. As with ... Read the complete review

When it comes to eating my tea I always end up with a lot of sauces accompanying it. This can range from anything from mayonnaise, barbeque sauce to tomato ketchup. I don't think there are many people who don't like a bit of tomato ketchup with their chips (Unless you're my dad that is who gets in a panic if it ends up on his plate!) I have always been a big fan of the Heinz brand of tomato ketchup but lately I have watched the price go up and up, the 570g bottle currently retailing in Tesco for the price of £2.00. I decided to try the Tesco Value tomato ketchup, the 570g bottle being priced at a fantastic 38p, after all, Ketchup is ketchup and surely they ... Read the complete review

At around the 40p mark for a 570g bottle, you can't really expect too much from this particular brand of ketchup. Tesco Value products are a bit hit and miss. You often get a real bargain, but then you'll use a product which reminds you why it's the cheapest of the cheap. Tesco Value Ketchup isn't the greatest ketchup, and the price does reflect this. With other, nice tasting ketchups on the shelves for anywhere between 70p and £1, it's a wonder why I bothered with this product. Sure, it's about half the price, but unless you're an absolute fiend with the sauce then you're unlikely to really see any serious financial gain from it. And, of course, if you're a ... If you have read some of my earlier reviews, you will know that I have been trying some of the cheaper supermarket brands in a bid to save some pennies. Tomato sauce/ketchup is an absolute staple in our house, and I have to admit that I am the world's worst for over-using ketchup on my food. (oops.) Perhaps it's just me, but I have noticed recently that the price of ketchup seems to be getting higher and higher, with a recent purchase of Heinz sauce costing almost £2!! I found this a tad obscene, and after seeing the price of it on my receipt at home, made my mind up to try a cheaper brand the next time we had to buy it. The brand I ... Read the complete review

When I moved out of my parents house back in February last year I was really worried about money as I had no idea what bills would be coming my way. Sure everybody said to me 'you'll be fine' but I had no idea whether to expect a £50 electric bill or £200! One of the ways that I knew I could control my day to day costs was through grocery shopping, so I decided to buy the cheapest brand of every product I could find and that meant a lot of value! Ketchup was one of the few things that I was worried about getting the value brand item. I'm willing to try most things but I do have a bit of a thing for ketchup. I know it's a bit uncouth but I like ketchup with ... Read the complete review
