... minutes. Perfect for a busy household. It can of course also be warmed up on the home in a suace pan gently heating the soup through this would take again between 3 -4 minutes. It says the can of 400g contains 2 portions but if like me you can eat a whole can (plus bread) you may need to get 2 which is still cheaper than 1 can of heinz soup. The only thing is the can doesn't have a ring pull so you do need to open with a can opener and be careful as the top part of the tin falls into the can and you have to scoop it ou...more

Premium Review Tesco Value Tomato Soup: Nice Soup Nice Price (392 words)

Me and my partner were avid heinz fans and really didn't vary from this too much when having tomato soup however when we bought our house and moved out we decided to try different and cheaper things to see whether we can decrease our shopping bill a bit. Having seen this on the shelf for only 17p I thought it would be worth trying compared to heinz at 65p. What did I have to loose notibng apart from 17p! I always cook my soup in the microwave so I double checked this to make sure and depending on your microwave settings it would take between 3-4 minutes. Perfect for a busy household. It can of course also be warmed up on the home in a suace pan ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Good soup for only 17p! (539 words)

After recently having a can of good ole Heinz, I decided to try some other (cheaper) tomato soups to see how they compared. I picked up a can of Tesco Value Tomato Soup, which was 17p (!) for a full sized 400g tin. Compared to the rice of 60p for a 300g can of Heinz, I fgured it would geminately be worth comparing the two. The can has basic Tesco Value packaging with a picture of a bowl of tomato soup on the label, an icon confirming it's able to cooked in the microwave, and the nutritional values of a portion - which was strangely only half a can (either I've always eaten too much, or regular soup portion sizes have got a lot smaller!) Annoyingly, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Tomato Soup: 'Soup'erb! (335 words)

I picked up a tin of this whilst in Tescos the other day because I get sick of eating sandwiches day after day. It's probably the best thing to eat in the heat that we are experiencing at the moment hey....... The soup cost me 17p for a tin and is the tomato flavour. I wasn't convinced that this would be the best soup in the world but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. On opening the tin, it had that slightly thicker film around the lid and the top of the tin which I wasn't expecting from a cheap soup. It was very red in colour but had a slightly orange tinge to it. I was expecting the soup to be quite watery but when I poured it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A tangy tomato soup (462 words)

I'm not afraid to try economy products, and find many of them to be just as good as expensive brands, and I don't see the sense in paying more when you don't have to. I have a ridiculous amount of tins and jars in my cupboards at the moment and am trying to get them used up. One of the products I've recently tried is Tesco's value tomato soup. The soup comes in a standard can and the label is actually not too bad - I doesn't really scream 'cheap' in the way that some other value products can, and features a picture of the finished product as well as all the other standard information you'd expect the label to include. It does have a standard opening - no fancy ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Value Tomato Soup: Value Soup: cheap but not much to it (328 words)
by - written on 30/10/08 (Very useful, 30 readings)

To compare this soup in all aspects to a version such as Heinz Tomato Soup would be unfair, as this product is clearly offering a cheaper alternative to those who just want a soup. With winter setting in, soup is going to get more popular, as it tends to in the winter, and with the current economy not giving much leeway for the more luxurious items such as Heinz, scrimping and saving may just be done here. Naturally, Tesco Value Tomato Soup is a deal cheaper than the Heinz variety, but it is all swings and roundabouts, as the flavour testifies. The Tesco version lacks flavour and consistency, comning out more as a runny tomato flavoured hot drink than a soup, ...  Read the complete review
