Tesco value products are a bit hit and miss in my opinion. Some of them are really good though and one of those is the tinned 'Tesco Value Tuna Chunks.' It costs between 50p - 60p for the 185g circular tin of tuna fish. The can is metal and is recyclable which is good as I like to do my bit for the environment. There is no ring pull on the can but this is usually the case with tinned tuna so this isn't a particular fault with this brand. The tuna is quite a healthy option and it only contains 65 calories per serving. I find that the tuna drains quite nicely and the brine is quite salty in taste and appearance but once this is drained ... Read the complete review

I am not the world's biggest fan of meat or meat dishes and therefore tend to eat a lot of fish dishes. I also like to eat fish as part of my salads (I try to take a salad to work as for my lunch when I am on my healthy kick!) and tuna is a really dish to include. As you all know now I am not afraid to try out Supermarkets own brands of food and the latest can of Tuna that I brought was the Tesco Value Tuna Chunks in brine. I have brought branded tins of Tuna in the past before (such as John West) but as I am always looking for cheaper alternatives it was high time I gave this tin of tuna a go. The Tesco Value Tuna Chunks can be found ... Read the complete review

Usually I plump for John West's or a named brand, particularly when it comes to buying fish. Tuna seems to have crept up in price in the last year or so. I think this is down to the rarity of the fish and all those problems they have with dolphins, which is pushing the price up. At present, a can of Tesco tuna comes in at just under sixty pence for an individual tin. It makes it cheaper than the other brands, but there is not that much in it. The can is a basic aluminum tin, which you can open with a tin opener, no faults so far. Once you get inside you will be greeted by a good dose of tuna in brine, or something that looks like brine at least! I wasn't sure ... Read the complete review

Tesco Value Tuna Chunks In Brine......... I would have never even thought of buying this product without it having been recommended to me by a colleague at work. She told me it was just like any other tuna and that for a fraction of the cost it was a true bargain. Now me being me I am never one to miss out on true bargains so at my next weekly shopping trip to Tesco's I decided to pick up a tin. For under 40 pence for a drained weight of 56 grams this was looking like it was going to be a bargain. The Can itself looks pretty cheap as it has the standard Tesco Value blue and white label on it and the can doesn't have the ring pull ... Read the complete review

On the days when I want something light I usually just open a can of Value Tuna Chunks, drain it and then throw it with a salad, in a sandwich or toss it with a little pasta. This tuna comes in an aluminium can and a can opener will be required as there is no ring pull on this can. It has a paper label on it displaying the Tesco Value logo, a picture of the tuna chunks, ingredients (tuna, water & salt) & nutritional information. There is plenty of brine in the can and this keeps the tuna fairly moist and delicious and once drained off the weight of the tuna is 129g so you get 56g of brine in each can. Also, if you have a cat they might ... Read the complete review
