I have just eaten some of this awful, tough, chewy and cheap bacon. I bought it at the weekend for about a pound and thought I'd got a real bargain but not so.

The packaging is just plastic wrap, no solid carton or anything but who cares about that if the bacon is nice? There are about 8 slices in the pack, much the same as other brands and I defrosted it exactly as I always do, tried to peel a slice off and it broke into pieces and then noticed the huge amount of the slice that was pure fat.

About a quarter of each slice is actually fat so if like me you remove the fat before cooking you are left with very little bacon.

I make a tomato, mushroom, garlic and onion sauce and grill the bacon then add it to the sauce which we have with potatoes or pasta. I did this tonight just the same as I always do.

We sat down with the meal expecting it to be as tasty as always and it wasn't good! I'm very fussy when it comes to meat and this was really chewy and tough in texture even though I'd done nothing differently.

My partner tried to be kind and said it wasn't bad but soon objected when I told him I'd bought 2 packets of the bacon so he could eat the other one!

It's not as tasty as other brands, there's loads of fat on it, it's chewy and tough and ruined the meal.

I don't recommend it.
