Tesco Value Unsmoked Back Bacon
==============================
We bought this Friday afternoon intending to have it Sunday morning but instead decided to make some bacon baps on Saturday afternoon, boy what a waste.
The pack cost £1.35 and to be honest had that squashed look even before I opened the packet. Once in through the wrapping which is a trial in its self, the bacon was stuck together almost as though a steam roller had run over it.
It was the thinnest bacon I have ever seen and I accidentally ended up tearing a few pieces whilst trying to separate them and so had a real mish mash on the tray for grilling.
It grilled up very quickly but then it was very thin. There is a lot of fat on this bacon and when you cut that away you're not left with much bacon!! The bacon itself tasted of diluted bacon a bit like 'butter spread over too much bread'.
It was not very tasty and not very appetising. They say the first bite is with the eye and that was very true here. It really tasted as it looked, poor.
Can't tell you how it fries as we gave the rest of the packet to the dogs. They will eat anything.
You really do get what you pay for and I can honestly not recommend this bacon unless you are a student, Ha
Or looking to mix it into a quiche, a stir fry, maybe over a salad but first cut away the fat, trust me on this one.
Give it a miss.
Not recommended.
