Advantages: low fat breakfast

Disadvantages: not as tasty as Asda's version

I normally buy Asda cheaper version of Weetabix which I actually think are Weetabix but packaged differently. I ran out of them this week so whilst I was in my local Tesco I thought I'd pick up a box of these and compare them.

I paid £1.15 for a box of 24 which is a little more expensive to the £2.15 for 48 that I pay at Asda. The biscuits are packaged exactly the same as Weetabix in that they are wrapped in white plastic in columns of twelve.

As with all replica Weetabix products, I found it hard to actually get the wrapper open! The top is wrapped as you would wrap a Christmas present but when you try to pull back one of the triangles it just breaks and shreds which is a bit annoying. Eventually I end up with crumbs all over the side.

The cereal looks exactly like both the Asda version and the original Weetabix; they are rounded at the edge and around two inches thick. They also have the same wheaty smell and you can see different shades of wheat if you look closely.

When I put the milk on top and started eating them, I did notice a difference. Unlike a few other dooyooers I am not convinced that these are Weetabix in sheeps clothing. They do taste very nice and I am sure that I would get used to the taste if I ate them regularly as they weren't at all horrible but when I switched from Weetabix to Asda's version, I didn't notice a difference at all. They tasted exactly the same. Both of my son's certainly haven't noticed a difference and they eat these every morning.

I normally give Elijah half of one of these and they do snap quite easily which is quite convienient. They do make a mess though so I would advise you to break it downwards into a cereal bowl or plate.

The great thing about these is that they should taste very bland but they don't and if you are clever then you can get a few different consistencies with them. If you put the milk on eat them straight away then you get a moist soggy outer but a crunchy inside. You can put milk on one side of the wheat biscuits so you get a soggy end and a crunchy end or you can put the milk on and wait until the whole thing goes completely soggy and then mix it all up so it looks like brown porridge.

You can also add lots of things to them to spice them up a bit. My hubby doesn't like these much but if he does have them he will put tones of sugar over the top. I normally put banana and mixed, dried fruit on Noah's. I like to top it with lots of different fruit especially if I'm eating them as an afternoon snack and if I'm feeling naughty I will add cream.

These are low fat and quite filling and in my opinion are one of the best cereals to have whilst you are dieting.

I do find them quite filling but I am always tempted to eat three because they tend to go through my system quite quickly which makes me hungry again by around 10.30am.

Over all these are a great buy but I don't find them as tasty as the Asda version so will be looking forward to them when they arrive tomorrow!

Summary: A nice breakfast

I couldn't stand eating these every morning after about a week or so. They're so tasteless as are Asda's. It's a shame as the price is an advantage over Weetabix.
