Advantages: Just as tasty as the leading brand

Disadvantages: I cant think of one

Breakfast is a new phenomenon for me having never been hungry when I first get up, however after an hour's drive into work im ravenous so have begun taking in cereal to work which incredibly and of great surprise to me keeps me going until lunchtime!

As my other half's redundancy looms we have been making cutbacks and that means switching to cheaper brands when doing our weekly shop, at first it was tough, like tearing yourself away from a warm bed on a cold day even when you know your going to be late! You know deep down the brands are probably no better but you feel compelled and obliged to keep buying them, not anymore! Tesco Wheat biscuits cost a n amazing £1.06 for 24, that works out at 4p a biscuit, to give you some idea of comparison the leading brand favourite Weetabix cost £1.19 for 12. I for one will not be turning back.

Essentially both products offer the same thing, wheat biscuits, they look the same, taste the same and are even packaged the same to gently ease you into your non-brand transition. The Tesco wheat biscuit box is an attractive 'get-up-and-go' yellow colour with attractive, familiar looking wheat biscuits in a bowl with some fresh fruit and milk. The front of the packet states they are made with wholegrain and fortified with vitamins. So far you cannot go wrong.
They have the same crunchy till soaked with milk look and taste EXACTLY the same!! I like to eat just before it goes to soggy so it retains some of its crunch.

For two biscuits with 125ml semi-skimmed milk you are getting 190 calories (168 calories with skimmed) - as this is one of your three meals not bad at all. It does contain 9% of your daily sugar allowance, on the ingrediants list sugar is econd and the product is 95% wheat. The biscuits also contain folic acid and with two biscuits our having 35% of you RDA. Personally I feel comfortable over looking these details as I know its much better for me than missing breakfast and eating digestives come 10am.

For me the perfect way to bolster this to a healthier breakfast is to top it with fruit. My favourite being strawberries as I find I don't need to add any extra sugar.

These were a big surprise and a real keeper.

Summary: A good breakfast staple at a bargain price
