I am a big fan of ginger, and where I can, I include it in what i eat. Even more so, I love ginger sweets.

These first got my attention when i was browsing at Julian Graves. The box is very attractive, kind of old fashioned, and the ginger man on the front adds to the allure. I picked up the packet, it's very light, and took a look. Ginger chews. Great! According to the packet, these sweets have been voted best candy 1999-2000 by U.S. Scovie awards. the packet alo boasts that it is America's #1 selling ginger candy.

Upon opening the box, I found 12 wrapped chews. They are about 2 inches long, shaped like a stick.

They certainly are very hard to chew. If you have fillings ir dentures - beware! These are not chewing sweets. They are great to suck though, and after a while, do become soft and malleable, although still tough to chew.

They have a real ginger kick to them. perfect for someone like me. Although my nan thinks them too strong. Surprisingly, they are only 8% giner. Sugar is the first ingredient and tapioca is the last. Despite this, they are not sickly sweet. The sugar is just the right amount to compliment the ginger. Each sweet has only 20 calories, so are kind to dieters.

The packet also says you can make a tea with them, by adding a few pieces to boiling water. I have yet to try that, but it sounds yummy!

At less than £1.50 these sweets are worth it. They are something I'd buy again and again.

Summary: Beware if you have fillings but otherwise enjoy!
