During our lovely hot sunny spell my whole family seemed to be eating delicious cold ice-creams, making me feel extremely jealous as I tried to maintain my diet. My husband decided to take a trip to Sainsbury's and buy me a diet version of the tasty ice creams everyone else was enjoying.

He came back with The Skinny Cow mint double choc sticks. Normally I am not a fan of mint choc ice-cream but I was practically salivating watching everyone else so I eagerly opened one of the pack of three ice-creams and tucked in.

They are a solid oval of ice-cream on a stick and you do get a good sized ice-cream for your money. They are very smooth and creamy, tasting almost exactly the same as the full fat variety. In fact I would be hard pushed to know the difference between the two. I have found with other brands of low fat ice-cream they are more ice than cream and therefore don't have that satisfying taste about them that I craved.

The mint ice-cream was definitely minty, and having said earlier that I am not a fan of this; I found it very refreshing and totally delicious. The mint was not too powerful and made me feel cool as well as satiated "sweet tooth" wise.

The chocolate chips were spread about evenly throughout the ice creams and there is a swirl of chocolate flavouring running through as well. The chips were plentiful and I found myself letting the ice-cream melt in my mouth so I could munch of the chips of chocolate.

All this for only 94 calories and 1.8g (3%) of fat? Yes but the sugar content makes up 17% of your RDA so it should be still be classed as a treat even if it is low fat/calories. The price also means they are classed as a treat for me as they cost £1.99 for 3 lollies. This is quite high in my opinion and although it is less than the ice-cream van variety it is still a lot of money if you are thinking of having one every day.

Overall though, they are delicious and creamy and have lots of chocolate chips making them sweet and refreshing and just right for a hot summer afternoon in the garden.

Summary: RECOMMENDED xx
