Advantages: Yummy, low in fat and calories

Disadvantages: Little bit pricey (but worth it!)

I started a diet recently but I find that to really stick to a diet I need to include some kind of treat. I find that particularly after my evening meal I really crave something sweet. So I was on the look out for a low fat/low calorie dessert that would satisfy my cravings but benefit my waistline! Someone on a forum recommended these so I thought I would give them a whirl.

I originally wanted to get the triple chocolate ones but since they were out of stock at Tesco when I went I got the mint chop chip ones instead (fine by me, I love mint choc chip.) The price isn't too bad but not exactly cheap - I paid £1.78 in Tesco and you get 3 ice cream lollies for that price. I think though these diet treats do tend to be more on the expensive side. The Weight Watchers puddings for example are also quite pricey.

The packaging is pretty funky. The box has an eye catching cow print background with the picture of an actual skinny cow on the front! There is also a picture of a tasty looking ice cream on the front as well as the nutritional info in the bottom right hand corner. The sides of the box show all of the necessary information concerning storage, ingredients and best before date. Each individual ice cream is packaged in a cow print wrapper.

When you take the ice cream out of it's wrapper you can smell the lovely mouth watering chocolate and mint smell. Appearance wise these are a nice looking green colour with a chocolate swirly pattern in the middle and a generous amount of dark choc chips sprinkled throughout. The box seems to protect the ice creams quite well - sometimes I find ice cream lollies can get squished in the freezer.

The taste of these is fantastic! They are creamy and soft but with plenty of substance. The mint flavour is just right without being overpowering and there are plenty of real chocolaty tasting choc chips. The flavours complimented each other perfectly and when I finish them I actually feel satisfied (not always easy to achieve when you are counting calories!) In fact I would happily eat these even if I wasn't on a diet. I really don't feel like I'm missing out at all on treats in my diet anymore and I think this is very helpful for long term weight loss.

It's hard to believe the nutritional info of these. Each ice cream lolly contains: 94 calories, 14.9g sugar, 1.8g fat and 1.1g saturates. So good news all round there, particularly as the lollies are a decent size with a gorgeous taste =)

Overall I highly recommend this product. Tastes just as good as full fat ice cream but is really low in fat and calories. I am looking forward to trying other products in The Skinny Cow range.

Summary: Great taste but low in calories
