I wrote a review about the worst shortbread (McVities) so today I went out and brought a packet of the best so I could tell you about this one. I do a bit of my shopping in the Co Op each week and my favourite thing in the whole shop are these Thorntons Caramel Shortcake Squares. I have eaten a lot of shortbread/shortcake in my 61 years but have never tasted better than this. The shortcake squares are laid out in a gold plastic tray and this feels nicer than just taking one out of a packet. Thorntons have made the squares with a layer of biscuit, a layer of caramel and a thin chocolate topping. They are very generous with the shortcake and caramel ... Read the complete review

Its almost midnight and here I am sat at the computer with a coffee and a pack of mini caramel squares so I thought I would review them. I'm a big fan of millionaires or caramel shortcake but mostly end up disapointed when I buy them. There are three simple components to a carmel shortcake, the biscuit base, the caramel and the chocolate topping and it is rare that a manufacturer gets all three pieces right but Thorntons have managed it with this product. Packaging ======= There are 12 mini caramel shortcakes per packet, each nestled in its own little gold plastic square. These are packaged in a foil ... Read the complete review

Thorntons Mini Caramel Shortcakes (12 squares) I used to buy the caramel squares with either white or milk chocolate which are available in Aldi every time I go to buy groceries. I have always loved everything about caramel squares although they are both fattening and very unhealthy. It's just full of fat and sugar and no nutritional benefits at all, and yet I keep on buying it. I saw Thorntons Mini Caramel Shortcakes on Thorntons website when I was buying chocolates online once and I wanted to buy it but unfortunately it was not available. I saw it again later in ASDA this time and I wanted to try it, of course, so I bought one. Now, the good thing ... Read the complete review

Back when I was a little boy my dad used to make Millionaire's shortbread that couldn't be beaten, until now! This Thornton's version is just delicious. To begin with, the shortbread is moist and crumbly. It's sweet but not sickly, and has a lovely crumbly consistency. It is also fairly thin which is important because it means the other layers are more dominant and that is exactly as it should be. Secondly, the caramel is lush! The other versions struggle in this category, with caramel that is hard or dry, but not this one; it's soft, smooth, creamy and sticky - perfect! It's so sweet it blows your mind, and looks a lovely rich caramel colour - ... Read the complete review

I was bought these as a treat but I did ask how much they cost for my review and they are £1.79 for 12 mini caramel shortcakes. Made in Derbyshire by Thorntons these are awesome versions of Millionaire's Shortbread my Grannie makes! These are my favourite Thorntons treat as they are really yummy and rich in flavour! They come packaged in a plastic wrapper with a gorgeous picture of the chocolate covered caramel shortcakes on the front and a best before date which is a few weeks in advance at 28th Dec 09. The wrapper keeps them nice and fresh and inside each small square is in a golden plastic compartment which stopped them ... Read the complete review
