Not exactly sure why but my other half turned up with a box of chocolates the other day, it was a selection box of Thorntons Continental Chocolates. Now normally gifts mean he has done something or he wants something and sure enough I discover that he is off to France and at this very moment watching the rugby while I'm expected to sit at home eating chocolates. Well in an hour I will be out clubbing it without him. Having said that the chocolates are rather nice. In all there are 30 chocolates and there is a mixture of dark, milk and white chocolate ones from the Thorntons range. I was a little disappointed to see that there was only one Viennese Truffle ... Chocolate is one of my favourite foods to eat when feeling good (besides a few other things). Naturally I have a sweet tooth; so I should have something sweet everyday to keep my brain functioning and to stay balanced - because if I don't have my daily fix I will be in a terrible mood. It is a very well known fact that chocolate contains a compound called theobromine, and a very small amount of caffeine, which can help release happy hormones and sometimes it can ease depression and stress. I have tried most of the chocolate available on the market but I don't happily eat just any chocolate: some of them taste soapy, others waxy; also, I don't eat chocolate ... Read the complete review

Chocolate - why do we love it so much? It gives us pleasure but not just from eating it but also from smelling it, looking at it, touching it, unwrapping it. When we take the wrapper off a bar of dark or milk chocolate or open up a box of chocolates we are already anticipating the next step which is to smell that pure chocolatey smell, exquisite, like a rich expensive perfume. Chocolate looks so smooth and glossy - you want to touch it. The sharp snapping sound when you break a piece of chocolate tantalises our taste buds and when it finally passes our lips and melts into our mouths we feel a wealth of sensory pleasure. Chocolate has always been given as a ... Read the complete review

I had to start writing this op tonight. On Saturday I went to Thorntons…..just for the purposes of getting myself a free ticket to see Chocolat at the cinema you understand….only thing is, I had to spend £5 in this chocoholic heaven to get the ticket... OK, so maybe that makes the ticket not exactly “free”, but let’s face it – what would you rather pay £5 for – a cinema ticket or £5 of delicious chocolate *and* a cinema ticket? No competition really, is there? Of course that doesn’t quite explain why I have to start this op now. The urgency is that on Saturday, drooling over what to ... Read the complete review

This Valentines Day I was presented with a box of Thorntons Continental Chocolates, which although seem like the 'classic present' actually suprised me as to how amazingly delicious they were! I must say I am a bit of a fussy chocolate eater - prefering sweet flavours like strawberry and orange to the nutty or alcoholic ones you get in a box like this, so I thought I will probably eat only half the box (I could see the reason behind my boyfriends choice now!) but I have to confess - I loved them all! Thorntons is a British company, which is great. Founded in 1911 by Joseph Thornton who set up in Sheffield and it's gone from there! They are now one of the ... Read the complete review
