Thorntons is a perfect example of a small business that has expanded and "made it in the big time." The first of the Thorntons shops was set up on a humble side street in Sheffield by a man named Joseph Thornton who at the time (1911) could not possibly have imagined the legacy that his small confectionary store would create for him. The business has remained in the Thornton family and it is only recently that the first non-family CEO was appointed. But over the course of the last century that family has been responsible for turning one small confectionary store into a multi-national, recognised brand that is known for premium quality products. Thornton's Special Toffee The product l am about to review is the same as the item listed, however the size is the much bigger boxed 650g version. Thornton's For a little brief information about Thornton's, the creators of my toffee, it may be useful to know that they have many, many, many, years of experience with making special toffee. The British company have been making special toffee for over 80 years now and the recipe they use is still much the same as first created in 1925 by Stanley Thornton (son of the creator Joseph William Thornton). Apparently there secret to delicious toffee is the fine quality ingredients and ... Read the complete review

Chocolate Heaven Since 1911 Every birthday, Christmas, celebration and sometimes Saturday (just because it was a Saturday) my dad would have a box of Thorntons special toffee. If fact according to the Thornton's website the toffee is , "Deliciously rich and creamy, yet simple, just the kind of gift to be enjoyed by all ages whatever the occasion!" Thorntons is a chocolate company established by Joseph William Thornton in 1911 in Britain. The year of establishment has been used in one of their famous marketing campaigns, "Chocolate heaven since 1911." According to an article I read Thorntons now has nearly 400 shops and cafes and ... I wasn't planning on writing this (or any) review this evening. I like toffee. Not a lot, but it's ok. I prefer chocolate though. This is therefore the reason that I spent a tenner yesterday on short-dated Easter eggs in the Thorntons outlet shop: 6 simple ones for a quid each, and one enormous toffee-choc egg complete with two bags of Original Special Toffee, reduced from ...
